Melvin Mora? Jose Castillo?

Any interest in Baltimores Melvin Mora - IF IF IF Braun isnt getting the call? Perhaps a package of Gabe Gross and Kevin Mench? Maybe Hart? Baltimore seems unhappy with Corey Patterson and they dont have much depth in the OF. A young guy to go along with Markalis would be a good move for BALT.

 

Jose Castillo has requested a trade from Pitt, but an interdivision trade seems very unlikely. Although Capellan for Castillo would seem to work for me.

I like Mora. I would welcome a trade for him. He could be for the Brewers what Graffanino and Counsell were supposed to be, which is a very good reserve who can play all the positions (he's played at least 29 games at 6 different positions in his career, plus he could easily handle 1st).

 

He's at an age where it might be best for him to go back to being a part time player. He would be a great fit, imo. He's a guy who still has an average bat so he wouldn't kill you if he had to play every day when someone got injured.

 

I don't know how much I'd want to give up for him though. I'd balk at giving up Hart I think. Maybe Zach Jackson and Kevin Mench or Callix Crabbe or something along those lines. The Orioles would probably want more though.

Mora is getting $8.3 million for the next three years. Plus he has a complete no trade clause. No thanks.

whoops, I thought his deal was for $5 mill per, which is quite reasonable, imo (especially when you look at what Counsell is getting). $8.3 per is probably too much for a team like the Brewers. He would be the 2nd highest paid player on the team.

 

The no trade clause would be little problem though, imo. The orioles are atrocious and show no signs of really getting better anytime soon.

Yeah but he has an option for 2010 and probably would force any team getting him to pick it up.
