What names will be coming up at the trade deadline?

Someone brought up the question in another thread (in the Major League board). Who is the Carlos Lee/Carlos Beltran/Don Sutton aquiree that the Brewers would possibly be interested in? I don't really know if I see many holes on this team, or even the need for a type of trade like that, but what reliever would you expect. Or even if Braun struggles at third base (hitting), which is doubtful, what third basemen are there out there?

Morgan Ensberg is available, even moreso than this past offseason. Chad Cordero seems to be available too, as he is to the Nats what Danny Kolb was to the Brewz, a luxury we can ill-afford. Andruw Jones and Torii Hunter are in their final years, but being fan favorites on contenders, they are very unlikely to be moved. Also, if you need an outfielder, the Rays are your one-stop shopping center, if you have the credit. And the players everyone wants but most in-the-knows deny will be moved are A-Rod and Miggy Cabrera, though Tejada could become available (but would he move off shortstop to third to accomodate the JJ...).

Jermaine Dye will likely be available if the Sox fall out of it. If Hart isn't really hitting by then, I could see something like Gwynn Jr. (the Sox need a centerfielder) and Mench for Dye with Hart taking over Mench's role. Or Nix and another top prospect in place of Gwynn.

wow, I hear a lot about ARod and Giambi possibly traded, and it's just so hard for me to fathom the Yankees trading anyone for prospects.

wasn't 05 a year that a lot of teams stood pat and didn't do a lot of trading? i think i'd be happiest if the Brewers did almost nothing. with their platooning, i'd think Yost could just play the hot hand throughout September without really needing to add anybody except maybe a bullpen guy.

Ichiro's name has been coming up too. If the Brewers make a splash, and I don't count picking up a middle reliever as a splash, I think RF is the most likely spot with Hart shifting into Mench's role and Mench going out in the trade.

It sure would be fun to snatch up a big name player and hear fans in big markets be all dismayed. Especially since the Brewers have the depth of prospects to make it happen.

I have a feeling they are gonna be asking alot more than Chad is worth(which they should). What would be a realistic trade for him? I see them asking Inman + 2 high level prospects.

Players who will be available at the deadline are most pending FAs. The can be found at MLB4U.com. Some interesting relievers include Eric Gagne and Bob Wickman.

Ichiro's biggest value doesn't even come on the baseball field; it comes from the small island in the Pacific that is enamored with our culture. And Milwaukee, unfortunately, would have a very difficult time harnessing the luxuries associated with the aged speedster.

Mike Cameron could be a guy out there is the Padres are not in the mix for the West division title.

Reggie Sanders will be out there from the Royals also, his name always seems to come up during the trade deadline.

While I feel like this is a pipe dream, how beautiful is this lineup:

RF Ichiro

2B Weeks

SS Hardy

1B Fielder

CF Hall

C Estrada

LF Jenkins/Hart

3B Braun

Quote:
I would think there is a decent chance Adam Dunn is on the move if the Reds are still douible digit games out.

Similarly, I'd love a lineup with Dunn in it:

2B Weeks

SS Hardy

1B Fielder

LF Dunn

CF Hall

C Estrada

RF Jenkins/Hart

3B Braun

As someone mentioned in another thread, while replacing Councilino with Braun is a big improvement for third base, it isn't going to revolutionize our lineup. However, adding a big bat from out of the system along with Braun really makes this lineup look legit.

I too, would probably weep for joy if we landed Ichiro. He's one of my favorite players, and I love his talent and work ethic. If at all possible, I would hope Melvin could make it happen.

He's such a talented player, and I think it's time for him to move on from Seattle.

Ichiro is supposedly having the best defensive season ever by a centerfielder, if the Brewers trade for him I would like to see him kept in CF.

It would be lovely to get Ichiro, but I don't see him resigning in Milwaukee so I'm not sure trading for a rent a player would be the right move at this point in the Brewers projected success cycle.

Byrnes is well below average for a corner OF and you are talking about giving up Hart AND and an arm for him? Even if it was a straight up Hart for Byrnes deal it would be terrible from the Brewers perspective.
