I know Macha wanted to save Coffey for a save situation, but I guess I give him some credit for using him now.

There is no way Yost would have made that move in the 7th...and maybe it saves the game, even though it is not a "save".

Wow.

I wanted to keep it a one word post, since "Wow" kinda says it all. But since that's frowned upon I'll add that ESPN MLB Gameday swung our odds of winning from 43% to 74% with that DP. Nice job Coffey.

And props to Macha for using his best reliever in the most important spot regardless of inning.

Hopefully Bill Schroeder just had a startling revelation. I think he said something like "Who says you have to save a game in the ninth when you can do it in the seventh?"

Yes Bill, that's why your best relievers should be used in high leverage innings, and not just limited to the ninth.

I bet Mets fans are really mad that they didn't get any more runs after having the bases loaded and only 1 out.

True, good teams score runs there.

Is this not true? And wouldn't it be normal for Mets fans to be let down in that situation. Am I missing something here? You two got some inside running joke about the content of others comments? Maybe we should lock these game threads to all but the very insightful Ennder and rluzinski.

Good teams aren't perfect is pretty much what is missing here and I wasn't directing my post at anyone in particular. Good teams do this and that just gets thrown around a lot whenever anything goes wrong.

So if we manage to get through this inning with the lead do you think CV is 'closer' tonight? I sure hope it isn't Julio.

Obviously no team comes through in that situation 100% of the time. Would you not say the Brewers rank below average though? I'd venture to guess that the Mets rank higher than the Brewers in terms of producing runs with runners in scoring position and less than two outs.

I'd sure like to see this current crop of Brewers players improve in that area sometime before they hit free agency.

I wonder if FSN has a shortage of advertisers, they are not going to commercials for pitching changes.

Considering their contract with the Brewers, FSN probably made so much money last year that they could survive without any commercials at all this year.
