2009 NHL/Milwaukee Admirals playoff thread

trwi7

The Rangers took a 2-0 lead against Washington today. Very surprising.

Vancouver and Pittsburgh also with 2-0 leads.

Canes and Devils tied at 1.

Blackhawks, Bruins, Ducks and Red Wings all lead 1-0.

So, who's in the Stanley Cup Finals and who's the champion?

I'm going against the "experts" and saying Vancouver vs Carolina with Carolina winning it all.

Milwaukee plays at the Bradley Center tonight against Rockford. Milwaukee leads the series 1-0.

Not a big hockey fan, but went to the Ad's game on Thursday night. Fun time, the crowd was very small though. I hope attendance picks up, only the corner of season ticket holders that start all the chants was into it. Good game too.

There was another NHL playoff thread started earlier (on page 2 now).....

This should be the Sharks' year but it's hard to pick against Detroit.
Sharks are looking like a big flop right now. Granted, Hiller has been great in net for the Ducks, but losing 2 games on home ice is really going to hurt.

Yep, Admirals games are the best value for your entertainment dollar in Milwaukee. You can have a good time at the Brewers game at a low cost, but you end up in the nosebleeds with the cheap tickets.

For $10, you can go to a playoff game and sit a few rows off the ice. For $18, you can do the same in the regular season. That's another nice thing, playoff tickets are cheaper than regular season tickets.

MacIntyre was a stud in net and the Jones/Santorelli/Ortmeyer line was awesome last night. Both games in Rockford had a strong showing of Admirals fans.

I can't wait to go to one of the second round games. It sounds like the Admirals were really on last night.

The Santorelli/Jones/Ortmeyer line was awesome last night. Just completely dominated Rockford.

Looks like the Blues hot streak to end the season didn't carry over into the playoffs. Vancouver is the first team to move on to the 2nd round.

I'm really looking forward to tonight's Chicago/Calgary game. Game 3 was real intense with lots of big hitting and post-whistle action to make me think Game 4 should be a good one.

Game 4 was indeed a fun game to watch. I was ready to give up on the 'Hawks when they went down 4-1, but they rallied for 3 straight to make it interesting. Unfortunately, Khabibulin couldn't keep Calgary out of his net.

Also, I'm really starting to dislike Jarome Iginla.

Need advice for buying tickets to Saturday's game. I jumped on ticketmaster tonight to grab two $16 seats and was utterly dismayed by the $18+ in special charges I'd incur to order the tickets. $50 for two $16 tickets -- while not a total surprise when it comes to ticketbastard -- is completely ridiculous. If I call the Ads ticket office will they hook me up sans insane charges?

Yeah, you'll definitely be fine getting tickets walking up...the upper level almost certainly won't be open for Saturday's game I wouldn't think so you'll get something decent no matter what.

I can tell from each of your avatars that you two know what you're talking about when it comes to hockey ( http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif ), but really? For a playoff game I can wait and walk up an hour before gametime and get tickets nearly as good as ordering three days early?

It's minor league hockey, the weather is starting to get nicer and the Brewers are in town. Trust me, there will be plenty of tickets available.

I went to the playoff game against Rockford a couple Saturdays ago, asked for a couple tickets on the south goal side since the Admirals attack that zone twice and got tickets in section 204, row M.

There were a couple of sweet game 7s last night. First Washington scores late in the 3rd to beat the Rangers 2-1 and then Carolina scores twice in the last 1:20 to beat New Jersey 4-3.

My Stanley Cup Finals prediction is still there. Come on Carolina, just upset Boston. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

I should add that the Admirals only had 3,022 for game one of the series against Rockford and 5,109 for game two.

Back in 2006 when they made it to the Calder Cup Finals, they averaged 2,859 in round one against Iowa, 3,567 in round two against Houston, 3,584 in round three against Grand Rapids and 5,685 in the Finals against Hershey.

Really, the only time you get crowds that are any higher than maybe 7,000 is when they're doing something for charity, for example, they sold seats in the upper level for $3, $2 from each seat for those tickets was given to the MACC Fund, the attendance for that game was 10,316. The other times you get crowds is when they play Chicago or when they give something away or have a concert. Some more examples. Average attendance when they played Chicago: 6,881. BoDeans concert attendance: 10,026. Darius Rucker concert attendance: 9,154. Styx concert attendance: AHL season high 15,602.

Any tips on where to park down there? For convenience, I typically use the parking garage at Highland and Fourth, but the weather is looking really nice like we wouldn't mind walking. Any good street parking to the south? We'll probably go to Major's before or after....

Yeah, unfortunately even for the playoffs the Admirals aren't that big of a draw. It's so much more exciting when atleast the whole bottom bowl is full.

As far as parking, the ones close to the BC are usually $10, but I think there might be a lot that's $5 that is a few blocks south of the BC on 6th. Not positive though.
