TV tonight (WMLW)

Recommended Posts

Assume the worst.... even the free first week extra inning preview got blacked out on Saturday in the same situation. Might as well plan on firing up the grill and listening to Bob & Corey on the radio.

I can't decide which I hate more - the outdated blackout rules, the wrong assignments of "local" markets, the greed driven exclusive rights deals, or that pathetic canned answers given by all the different customer service(ish) operators. /vent

Attanosio really needs to find a way to buy himself out of the horrible TV deal he inherited from the Seligs, and get The Brewers Network started. Waiting for this deal to expire is a lost oppurtunity, and I'm sure he knows that.

I doubt their would ever be a "Brewers Network" I mean really how many professional sports teams have their own TV network. When the FSN contract is up for renewal, the Crew is going to have a ton of leverage I would think given their impressive ratings. When is the contract up again? It is just a joke we have to wait almsot 3 weeks into the season before the first HD games after they promised last year that every game would be on HD. I don't think there is any doubt taht Brewer telecasts are by far the most viewed program on FSN North/Wisconsin whatever it is, FSN should devote a little more money towards a quality broadcast.

I have to chime in with this. After watching last night's game on ESPN, I have a new-found appreciation for our local FSN broadcasts. Not only are Brian and Bill much easier to listen to than those 3 clowns last night, but in my humble opinion, the production in general is better on FSN. I really did not care for some of the camera angles last night. The view of a pitch coming in from the camera behind and above the batter was just awful in my opinion. Of course, maybe that's just me. Perhaps others liked that view.

Joe Morgan is the only announcer that can make me stop watching a baseball game...even if it's the Brewers. After his 20 minute rant about why Soriano is better as a leadoff hitter, I just couldn't take anymore.

Rock is a genius compared to those guys.

If I had Braun's pee in my fridge I'd tell everybody.

I'm not sure if the Extra Innings preview is over or not. If it is, ignore the rest of this post.

On Saturday at my uncle's we were searching for the Brewer game, and while the Extra Innings channel that was televising it was blacked out, it was not blacked out on the "mix" channel that had eight games going at once. It is a pretty small window, but the CSN HD feed on a 52'' LCD made it so you could at least follow the action. Better than nothing.

No one outside of Milwaukee cares about the Bucks.
If the Bucks were in the playoff chase and actually good I could see more people caring; and a reason to not be showing the Brewers game but, just like last year when we didn't have the normal production crew at the start of the year, for some reason the Bucks are more important to FSN than the Brewers. Ratings don't support them showing the Bucks (2.00 for '07-08 season from JSOnline) over the Crew (7.42 for '08 from the Capital Times). I just don't get it.

Don't forget dragging out the crampon story last night.

To me, Joe Morgan is like the John Madden of baseball announcers... somehow he is still on a number one announce team, but can't find a majority of diehard fans that like what he adds to the broadcast.

Add that to a week of free previews of the White Sox, Yankees & Cubs announcers, and I must apologize for my gripes on the Schroederisms.

So, what a can a large group of dedicated baseball fans do to get the message across to the "powers that be" that their TV (and internet) contracts need improvement?

You had a few extra words in there for some reason, fixed it for ya http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

It doesn't really matter to me, since I get both stations, but can not see why they don't shove the Bucks over to WMLW instead of the Brewers...I suppose it is a contract thing.

I just checked Directv's online guide. The game is listed for tonight on channel 652, RSNa
I wouldn't hold my breath. But I would be elated if it is on. Highly doubt it though
Actually, I think this probably will work. A lot of times WMLW games were put on a different channel than 669 on DirecTV. RSNa stands for Regional Sports Network alternate, so it's not Cincy's regional sports network that would be blacked out for those of us in Wisconsin.

I'm glad to see that DirecTV has gotten with the program and made it possible for those outside of Milwaukee to see both games. That's how it should be.

As an option for some, WMLW is on Milwaukee channel 58-2. It should provide a much stronger signal than analog channel 41. I'd guess that if one can receive the "regular" channel 58, s/he should be able to receive 58-2.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Johnny Lungs is right. It took me half a season of WMLW Saturdays before I realized DirecTV often does provide these games on alternate channels. I found it home at lunch today by searching for programs. I used keyword: Brewers, then selected Sports>Baseball, and it appeared. The game is also listed on 661, but that's Cincy's regional sports network, so it will be blacked out.

Tuesday's game is listed on 652, 661, and 669 (FSN-WI). Will be interested to see if Tuesday's game is actually on 652.

Cable subscribers outside of Milwaukee probably won't be able to see tonight's game. Our local Charter cable would carry WMLW games on FSN last year, but with the Bucks game scheduled tonight, I'm guessing they won't preempt that.
