Follow Thursday's action as it happens:

Here's what you do, right click on each of the links below and choose "Open in New Tab or New Window". Choose "Recap". While you're listening to your minor league game of choice (or watching/listening to the big league Crew when they are playing), simply refresh your game log browsers every so often.

UPDATE: MiLB.com apparently will make Gameday available this year in additional leagues beyond AAA, which would supersede the game logs in some ways. We'll see if they're ready to go tonight!

If you click on MiLB.com's audio page link now, you'll see how it's going to set up this season.

For our friends and families of Manatees' players (and we've already been contacted by a couple), you don't see the Daytona game listed in the "Cubs" section. But Daytona has always covered all games in the past, so you may wish to try the Daytona radio station site link tonight.

Scarpetta rolling early for WI with 7Ks through 3 but WI down 1-0 on back to back hits, a double and single.

Butler started off nicely for BC but faltered in the 4th and 5th, BC down 4-2 but only 3 earned runs for Josh.

Jeffress escapes a huge jam in the first allowing a single run (Gameday is great, though it locked up for 15 minutes on me), Huntsville tied 1-1 after 1.

Escobar and Gamel do the offensive damage early for Nashville but a Wild Pitch and a Passed Ball sabotage the top half of the 2nd and Nashville is down 2-1 in the 3rd.

After going to the T-rats game tonight I was impressed with Scarpetta. It was a pretty chilly night and he was still hitting low 90's with someone who wasn't working the gun real well and worked his pitches well. He had the hitters off balance pretty much all night except for the deep drive off the CF wall. Lawrie started a nice clean double play.

Final: Brevard County 5, Daytona (Cubs) 4
First walk-off win of the season!

Brevard County Box Score
Manatees win despite being outhit, 10-4, and batting 1-for-11 with RISP; catcher Martin Maldonado with a walk-off sacrifice fly, he had a two-run single in the 2nd for a three-RBI night; reliever Mark Willinsky shows why he bypassed low-A ball with three scoreless innings to earn the win; Zelous Wheeler with a perfect night, on base four times; Lee Haydel doubled to open up the fruitful 9th inning and then stole third; Josh Butler with an effective start, something we did not say often in '08 -- eight ground balls, three K's in five innings -- that'll do...

Brevard County Game Log
Caleb Gindl aided Butler's cause when he ended the 4th with a throw to the plate from right field -- nice; Brent Brewer's speed set up the tying run in the 8th -- Brewer hit in the 3-hole; over 1,650 on hand on a beautiful 77 degree night in Viera...

Seven of Scarpetta's eight K's were swinging; all six of Nieves' K's were swinging -- long night for the River Bandits' hitting coach, huh?

Final: Mobile (Diamondbacks) 5, Huntsville 4

Huntsville Box Score

Ouch -- Stars had men on 2nd and 3rd, one out in the 9th, but Shane Justis K'd and Vinny Rottino lined out to end the game; Stars pitchers walked ten Bay Bears, including five free passes issued by Jeremy Jeffress in three innings -- Jeffress was fortunate to allow only two runs; it was an eventful night for Justis, who tripled, doubled, and made a key error that led to two unearned runs in the 7th, in addition to the failed at-bat in the 9th; Jonathan Lucroy homered, singled, and walked, but also had a throwing error on a stolen base attempt...

Huntsville Game Log

Stars 0-for-8 with RISP, apparently the theme for the night on the farm; Jeffress allowed just one run in the first inning despite allowing three walks and two doubles -- try that some time; a brutal Freddy Parejo bases-loaded GIDP ended a scoreless Stars' 6th; Huntsville stranded eight, but it feels like many more as you review the log...

Brett Pollock's Huntsville Game Summary:

Gerardo Parra made a diving catch of a Vinny Rottino line drive with two runners in scoring position and two out to end the game and preserve Mobile's 5-4 season opening win over the Stars Thursday night at Joe Davis Stadium. The BayBears claimed the first-ever season starter between the two teams. Huntsville is now 15-10 in season openers since entering the Southern League in 1985.

Daniel Schlereth, in his double-A debut, inherited a one-run lead in the ninth and promptly walked leadoff man Yohannis Perez before catcher James Skelton misplayed Johnny Raburn's sacrifice bunt attempt to put two runners on base. Adam Stern advanced the runners with a sacrifice bunt but Shane Justis fanned for the second out of the inning. Rottino laced a full count pitch to right field that Parra snagged just before it hit the grass to end the game and help Schlereth earn his first professional save. The Stars lost their season opener for the first time since 2005.

Justis tripled in a run and scored on a Rottino groundout in the home first to give the Stars a 2-1 lead. Mobile starter Matt Torra then settled into a groove, retiring the last 12 hitters he faced and went five frames to pick up the win. He allowed two hits, walked one and struck out one. Huntsville starter Jeremy Jeffress lasted three innings, giving up two runs on three hits, while walking five and fanning a pair.

Cyle Hankerd's sacrifice fly in the fifth inning off Donovan Hand gave the visitors the lead for good at 3-2 and handed the hometown hurler the loss. Mobile scored twice in the seventh inning when Evan Frey stole third and came home on an errant throw by catcher Jonathan Lucroy and Bryan Byrne delivered his second two-out, run-scoring single of the game. The Stars got a run back in the bottom of the frame on Lucroy's lead off home run that ended Clay Zavada's 30 2/3 inning scoreless innings streak that dated to June 26 of last season. Freddy Parejo's run-scoring force out drew the Stars to within a run in the eighth.

The series continues Friday night with left-hander Chris Cody taking the hill against BayBears' southpaw Hector Ambriz. Coverage of the game begins at 6:45 PM central time and can be heard through the internet at www.huntsvillestars.com.
