Just a reminder that starting with the Cubs series, wOOgie will be passing on IGT duties to members. New information regarding this has been added to the IGT Usability Guide, including a template for the Cubs series.

Also, please make sure you've read the 2009 In-game thread rules. A number of posts were hidden yesterday. They were mostly of the "play by play" or "post just to post" variety.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

I believe it is important that Yo comes out and pitches a solid game to get our pitchers back on track. I'm sure the pitchers heard all the whispers this off season about how they would not be good. We need Yo to come out and show that we do have hope in that department. I hope the offense continues to play well. They really looked good at the plate yesterday.

I agree, to an extent. I hope he pitches 7 or 8 innings today so we don't really have to see too many pitchers, plural! But I'll take them not giving up 10 lousy runs today, however they do it.

The crowing on Bay Area sports talk radio this morning is unbearable. I can understand being excited if I were them, but some of the stuff they're saying about their team and ours is ridiculous ("I mean, I know it was just the Milwaukee Brewers, but ten runs!"). They're not as good as that, and we're not as bad, and a Yo start should give our offense a chance today to win the game and prove that.

BA was in one some of that too. "The Giants weren't supposed to be known for their offense!" It helps when it's A) 1 game, and B) They get to face the likes of Suppan, McClung, Julio.

Hopefully the Brewers patience will continue at the plate, and Hart doesn't look lost on 4/5 of his at bat's.

That's kind of what I've been telling people--they think yesterday was indicative of how improved their batting is and how bad our pitching is...easy to look like Murderer's Row when Suppan and Julio picked up the majority of yesterday's innings, and those two are arguably the black holes of both the rotation and the bullpen. You wouldn't believe how many people think Suppan is indeed our #1, but there's no point in arguing with people that don't understand he's not, I suppose.

Our pitching is certainly not great, but not nearly as bad as yesterday, and I think Gallardo and Villanueva combining for, say, a 6-2 win tonight would go a long way to dampening the enthusiasm in NorCal and lifting some spirits in Wisconsin. Now, if they put up 5+ again tonight and tomorrow, then things really could get dire for us and maybe pretty exciting here (I'd be rooting for them--nice fans, nice park, a fun-to-watch team of young guys and likeable vets now that Barry's gone).

But I just don't find yesterday to be a strong barometer of either team's prospects this year. Season starts tonight.

Overall I still think the Giants offense is rather pathetic. They were aided by an equally pathetic pitching effort by the Crew yesterday. Their middle of the lineup is one of the least formidable groups in the league. I am confident that Gallardo is going to be on tonight and that Giants fans will be singing a different tune tomorrow.

I really don't like these 9 PM central starts. I normally get up around 5 to go workout, getting up that early is virtually impossible when I don't go to bed until 1230-100. It just screws up my entire next day because I didn't follow my routine.

Not to mention the fact that if the Crew loses these late games I tend to have a difficult time falling asleep.

Personally I love the late starts. I can get everything done I need to get done and have no distractions. I'm a night owl anyhow and rarely got to bed before 1 am.

Looking forward to seeing Yo tonight. Nothing seems to faze him (with the exception of AAAA players diving into his legs when they have no chance of being safe) and I expect more of the same. GO CREW!

Congrats to the Giants for beating the Crew for the first time since 2007, but let's be realistic NoCal. Lincecum v. Suppan...who didn't see that coming. The surprise wasn't they won, it's that we lit up Cy Young and they lit up the dregs of our staff. The number of outings that Lincecum has like that this year will likely be equivalent to the number of 10+ run outings by the Giants...not many.

I saw one Corey Hart at bat last night and in the words of the Giants announcers "that was a terrible at bat"

meat ball down the middle for strike one, followed by a foul, and strike three on a slider 4ft outside.

Seemed like September

I listened to the SF broadcast on XM yesterday, they were very complimentary of the Brewers speed/power combo. I can't even count how many times they mentioned it. I have to listen to the other teams broadcast crew a lot on XM while I'm working and it's sometimes nice to hear an outside perspective.

Let's get one in the left column boys, I like our chances. Yo on the mound and facing a lefty.

Same here, I'm a night owl so I'll probably be up after the game ends anyways.

Gallardo's splits (two lousy games in '07, mind you) against the Giants haven't been remarkable, for what it's worth--he got pretty roughed up out here in his last AT&T Park start. Mind you, most of the Giants' lineup from that game has since retired or moved on, for better or for worse. And his splits are better than Johnson's have been against the Brewers last year.

On the other hand, Parra has performed quite well against the Giants. But the other side of the same coin: a good chunk of those players he faced are no longer in San Francisco.

Everything in wOOgie's template is Tahoma, size 2, bold. That's mentioned in the "Starting an in-game thread" reply in the Usability Guide.

The "normal" font in posts is Verdana.

If memory serves we seem to hit Randy pretty well. I'm optimistic. It's good to see all those walks yesterday, and Bush was actually pitching pretty well in my opinion, despite getting rocked. Let's go out and get a W. My roommate called this one a "must win" http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
