Win Tickets To Sit In Doorman's Seats Charity Auction 2009, Brewers v. Pirates, Tuesday April 28th 7:05

rickey24

I've had numerous people come up to me over the past few years and tell me they wish they could sit in my seats for a game, well now is your chance to do just that. This is the second year I've done this, and based on last year's response we'll try this again this year. I'm going to have an open auction for my both of my seats to an upcoming Brewers game. There are however, a few rules that go along with sitting in these seats. First off, no foul language or upsetting of anyone sitting near you, secondly, no calling all of your friends and waving to them when you're on camera. Third, if you're not a Brewers fan don't bid on these seats, I don't want someone with a Pirates jersey sitting in these seats. If you can abide by these three rules you're free to bid on these seats.

One more thing, this is a charity auction, with 100% of the proceeds being given to one of the charities listed below. So here is your chance to get a tax deduction, feel good, watch the Brewers, and then go home and see how you look eating peanuts and hot dogs on TV. There are a few things that need to be clear before I start this auction, they are:

1) Winning bidder will choose one of the three charities (listed below) that they want to give their money to.

2) Winning bidder must provide me with a phone number by the end of the auction so I can contact them to arrange the exchange of tickets and check.

3) Winning bidder will personally meet me to receive the tickets and will at that time provide me with a money order written out to one of the three charities. I will send the winning bidder a receipt from the charity so they can use that for the IRS. Please be sure you've got the funds to pay for the seats. I will have the winning bidder provide a money order to pay for the final amount of the winning bid.

4) The open auction will end on Saturday April 25th, at 10:00 pm, CDT, with the highest bid at that point declared the winner. This isn't eBay, so please don't wait until the last minute to submit your bid.

5) I will personally donate $200 to the other three charities that are not chosen so no one loses out.

The three charities that I've decided will benefit from this auction are:

1. American Cancer Society

2. The MACC Fund

3. Make-A-Wish Foundation

While I certainly understand that there are many more charities out there that are worthy of receiving a donation, these are the three that I've decided I'd like the proceeds of the sale of my tickets to benefit.

In addition to the tickets the winning bidder will also receive passes to the Metavante Club, where they can go before, during or after the game to have a drink or some food. Somehow I have a feeling they'll go to the club before the game!

The opening bid of the tickets will be $150 which is what I paid for these seats when I bought them from the Brewers, although the face value of the tickets is more than this.

The seats are in Section 121, Row 4, Seats 9 & 10, you can put your left arm on the dugout sitting in my seat, and you can rest your beer on the dugout as well (of course it won't be up there long, the ushers will tell you to take it off).

Should you have any questions about this auction, please feel free to contact me at:

Thanks and good luck!

I did this last year and had the pleasure of sitting next to the Doorman as well. The seats are great-- my fat head was on TV way to much-- you can not believe the amount of people who saw me, but I had a great time. The seats are better than you think. I would love to bid again, but will be in China this time around.

I would highly recommend-- it is worth every penny and more.

rickey, I found your instructions confusing. You say the winner would bring a check made out to the charity, but also have a money order for the amount of the bid?

Sorry the winning bidder just needs to get a money order for the winning bid they don't need both. Rickey

Very generous! I have nothing to contribute to this thread as I am currently a college student living off of ramen noodles, but I'd just like to applaud what you do for the brewerfan community as well as these charities.

Thanks JoGrG, but honestly, the thank you goes to the brewerfan community for bidding on these tickets, and to Brian for allowing me to do this.

Do you think you will do this again this season? I was outbid last year, and I can't make the game this year.
Hey JJ, at this point I'm afraid I don't know if I will have another auction later this year. It will depend on my schedule if there is a potential conflict that I know of well enough in advance I'll stick a game up for auction, but I can't make any promises at this point. Sorry!

Hey Folks-

There is still time to bid on these seats for next Tuesday's game, the high bid right now is $325.02 from Andersoc402. The deadline is 10:00 pm on Saturday night, the winning bidder should e-mail me their phone number on Saturday night to arrange pick up of the tickets on Sunday or Monday.

Thanks

rickey- this is off topic, so i apologize, but just wondering if you are making the trip to cooperstown to watch rickey get inducted this summer?
Can't wait for that to happen, but doubtful I'll be there.

Congrats to Andersoc402 on winning the auction for my seats with a final bid of $325.02! I sent you a note earlier today with my phone number and e-mail, please be sure to contact me today to arrange transfer of the tickets and money order. If I don't hear from you today I'll have to offer the tickets to the second place bidder of $300 to Wallus.

Again, please call or e-mail me ASAP to confirm your winning bid.

Just a note to Andersoc402, you've got until 6:00 tonight to send me an e-mail or call me about your winning bid, the tickets will be offered to Wallus who has already contacted me to purchase the tickets if you fail to contact me.

Thanks

Congrats to Wallus who is now the winning bidder of the tickets, since I was never contacted by Andersoc402 to pay for these tickets. In the future please only bid if you are serious about going to the game, it isn't fair to anyone to have someone bid who doesn't plan on going or isn't going to pay what they bid, in the end it is the charity that loses out.

Since the final bid was $300, I'll add in $25.02 to cover what the final bid was by Andersoc402 to Wallus' final total to the charity he picks.

Again, thanks for everyone who bid and hopefully we can do this again later in the year.
