If you expected a 1.000 OPS your expectations were out of line. Fielder from May 1st on hit .280 with a .373 OBP and an .891 OPS with 1 HR per 16.53 AB.

I realize a 1.000 OPS is asking alot, but how about a .900 OPS? Your cherry picked stats don't even hit .900. I think a .134 OPS drop is fairly significant for a player entering his prime.

He didn't cherry pick his stats. His original post said he started out slow and then played to expectations. So after the first month (a slow start) he played within .09 of an .900 OPS. You could go even further and say post All-Star break he was he batted .283/.392/.925. He had an MVP caliber season in '07. It could very well be that will be a career year. I doubt it and think that he will duplicate that season at some point in time, but definitely not year in year out. Very few players have ever been able to do that, Albert Pujols being the only one that immediately comes to mind. He got off to a slow start and then played to expectations. Pretty much exactly what Ennder said in the first place.
