Any advice for a soon to be dad of a girl?

As she grows up, develop a routine of playing catch with her every day. Not only does my 13-year-old have Seth McClung's heater, but we have our best conversations while tossing a ball around, nearly every day spring through fall. Amazing what I learn about her school day, her friends, etc. during these sessions that she clams up about around the dinner table or elsewhere.

Congratulations!

Brewtacular, first month update goes like this. Sleep happens once in a while. Actually, she's been really good about sleeping anywhere from 2-4 hours at night. Learn to sleep while the baby sleeps. I'm not a sleep during the day guy, but I've learned to do it. Otherwise life has changed, but not radically altered by any stretch. We've taken her outside and done stuff with her and that has seemed to be something that gives us dirty looks from other people. But we've decided that just because we have a baby, that doesn't mean we're going to be confined to our home. I've learned to do lots of things with one hand/arm. This morning I was feeding her while drinking my coffee. And of course, trying not to spill on her, me, or the couch. I was successful. It's been amazing, and I wouldn't trade this experience for any amount of money in the world! It just makes my heart skip a beat or 20 when she looks at me with those wide open eyes and doesn't cry, but actually smiles! Way cool!

Sounds like you already found out about "the sex" thing. (sorry, sort of had to)

Wish I'd have seen this thread sooner. Congrats all around.

My little princess is about to be 6 years old, so I'm still a cool dad, the best in the world. I'd have to imagine her opinion will change when she is 12 and I remove her bedroom door from its hinges.

I am also placing a baseball bat beside the kitchen table, the living room couch, outside her door, etc. Think I can dig in and survive the teen years if I approach it like marriage. "yes dear." "sounds great".

"looks real nice." "I'll be out in the garage."

-I used to have a neat-o signature, but it got erased.

Seeing your children smile and laugh is still the best part of every day.

Good to hear you're adjusting well Craig! All the best.

Sounds like a flawed plan.

"Daddy, can I go out with this rebellious hunk?"

"Yes dear. Sounds great."

Yes indeed. It is flawed in that respect.

I'm going to go ahead and treat every boy my daughter becomes interested in as a rebellious drunk.

I'm also of the opinion that each and every approach to a teenage daughter will be flawed.

Gee, I hope they tell me it's a girl.

Congratulations...though I'm sure you know that daughters can grow up to be brew crew fans too. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
Very poor choice of words on my part. That is to say, there will be another male brew crew fan.

That's OK, Brewtacular; you just had a momentous day .

I'm happy to see how many kids of bf.netters will be brought up correctly (baseball-wise, at least). I had to learn it on my own.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Brewtacular, the best way to describe it is life-changing. Not only financially, but just changes your perspective on life and what is truly important. My little girl is 4 months old now, and it's been amazing to watch her grow, and watch her personality develop. It's unbelievable. Just take it all in, enjoy it, and write down as much as you can, take pictures and video. My wife laughs at me because she thinks I'm like the paparazzi taking pictures. But, why not?
