Report: 1.75 million tickets sold already -- Latest: 2 million tickets sold (reply #5)

AJAY
Don Walker of JS Online is reporting that the Brewers have already sold 1.75 million tickets. That is 10 percent higher than this time last year. It's good to see business is booming despite the economy and some free agent departures.

In a way this is the best news. If the fans truly support a team that's not going to be as good as last year's team, then they deserve many kudos, and it really does bode well for the future if this continues. I hope the fans here have turned a corner and realize that numbers clicking thru the turnstiles directly affect the competitiveness of the organization--Bravo!

  • 3 weeks later...

New post on the Brewers blog on JSOnline says they're now at 2 million tickets. Second fastest date to reach that mark, second only to 2001 (when Miller Park first opened). What a huge accomlishment for the Brewers and their fans. It seems like the Brewers continue to post positive financial news, despite the economy.

(Mods, I figured it made sense to include this in an existing thread).

Very good news. Although I think the walk up sales for upcoming home games are going to be significantly hampered if the Brewers struggle over the next few weeks and into the summer.

Just another reason to hope we turn things around in Philly and beyond... we need to break our attendance record and we need those walk ups:)

Yeah, this is great news. The key to breaking last year's mark is July and August. Except for three games, the Brewers sold every ticket during those two months last season.

I wonder if the Brewers have a shot at outdrawing the Cardinals this season. I'd love to see that.

In a way it is more impressive because of how well they sold last year. I've seen several articles that said the attendance boost for teams typically comes the year after a playoff run. Had the Brewers attendance been average for them last year it wouldn't be as surprising to see the traditional boost teams get prior to a playoff run. They are building on an already high level which makes it all the better.
There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

For the 2nd time since opening day, I have seen a small article in the Journal/Sentinel comparing early season attendance average for all of MLB to last year's final average and noting that it is down from that figure. Is there a point to this? Wouldn't it make more sense to compare this years first two weeks attendance numbers to last years first two weeks attendance numbers?

I've seen those too. It was one of the untalked about positives to the CC trade. Even though he wasn't re-signed, he put us in position to raise our payroll, which could put us in position to do the same next year.
