Selling Tickets to Cubs Fans

jjkoestler
I've been watching Craigslist for the last month or so looking for opening day tickets at a reasonable price. I finally got fed up and posted a not so kind note to scalpers on Craigslist. I'm rethinking my argument though, and would like to hear a few other opinions. My argument is that selling tickets to Cubs fans hurts the Brewers because it eliminates the home field advantage. However, some people can only afford to buy a 9, 20, or season ticket plan if they sell the Cubs/Twins/Sox tickets. Is it right to sell out your team a few times a year so you can attend more games?

Look at it like this. It's their tickets and the can sell them to anyone they want. Brewers fans are also willing to pay high prices for those games to. It just sounds like your are mad because you don't have them. Just my opinion but every year people get mad at brewers fans for selling their tickets. There is no law that says you can't sell your tickets to cubs fans.

I''m actually not mad about not getting opening day tickets. I didn't renew my 20 game pack this year because I'm moving to Alaska in August. I agree that people have the right to sell their tickets to whomever they want, but it is ethical or right to do so? Are they hurting the team by selling them to Cubs fans?

I agree with mattsr0625. I don't really see how ethics plays into this (obviously unless there is something more involved than purely selling tickets). The Brewers sell tickets to Cubs fans if they order them online or at the box office in time. So why should any Brewers fan feel like he or she shouldn't be able to do the same? (Obviously, some people prefer to know that their tickets are going to Brewers fans, and value that over the money, and there is obviously no problem with that either.)

Generally, it's not like people plan to sell tickets to Cubs fans - that is just who often is willing to pay the money. People who sell through ebay or through stubhub or something like that have no control over who buys their tickets. And you can't honestly tell me that it's only Cubs fans buying these tickets - especially for Opening Day. Opening Day at this point isn't necessarily selling for much more than it has the past couple years - and part of that could easily be attributed to the fact that we are coming off our first playoff appearance in 26 years. In any case, if people are big Brewer fans and have season tickets, but need to help pay for them by selling a couple of the bigger games, I have a hard time finding fault with them. If they are devoted enough to go to the extra trouble of selling some tickets, just to attend games and support their team for many games, then that's their decision.
