As long as we're talking HD, does anyone have Time Warner in the Milwaukee market and know if I need to upgrade from the basic package to get FSNHD? I just got the box and I haven't even really figured out what channel it is.

Is the FSN HD schedule out yet?

I haven't seen anything on the topic in a few months, but last year, the plan was that all games would be in HD this season. I hope that the economic environment has not changed that plan. Given that we are two weeks away from opening day, it's strange that we have not heard anything on this.

531 is the channel I believe. Most of the HD channels correspond with the regular channels.

i dont think this will be the case. there was a quote from a rep the other day saying that the schedule was not set yet.

this translates to: we cant follow through on what we said last year and are still crafting how to convey this to the customers

That is what I fear at this point. As long as at least 50% of the games are in HD this year, I'll probably be happy, I guess.

Hopefully they don't have a lame situation like last year where Braun's playoff clinching homer was the only playoff promo highlight not in HD. Looked pretty bush league in those promos on TBS.

edod. you will have to upgrade to get a HD box, which is an extra $7 or $8 a month. I dont know how much more you will need to pay to get HD channels, but FSNHD is channel 531

I don't believe Time Warner charges any more to upgrade from a standard def. box to a high def. box, as long as the cable package you have is the same. We just brought our SD box into the Mayfair store and traded it in for an HD one at no cost.

However, if I'm not mistaken, I believe you pay an extra fee on your bill for HD service. I don't have my bill in front of me, but I think it's $7 or $8 per month.

Yeah, TWC runs commercials saying their HD channels are free, but they charge $8 more a month to lease the HD box to actually watch the channels.

You know, I never put that together. How do they get away with that? Isn't that false advertising? Could Taco Bell run a commercial claiming $3.00 meals and then charge $6.00 for the meals they advertise when you visit their restaurant?

Thanks for the responses. I have a HD box from TW and have found 531--it had the out of service colored stripes and not the call this number to add the channel. Made my night. I couldn't say what they charge, all I know is I was promised my bill would actually go down once I had the box.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tired.gif

when i last had TW in october, their "HD package" consisted of 3 channels. they wanted me to pay $8 or $10 a month for those 3 channels. i got it "free" for like 6 months after getting HD added.

when uverse beat their total by $30 and TW offered me $10 off at the best, i left

TWC charges $8 a month to lease a box regardless of whether or not it's SD or HD. The only thing they charge for is if you get the HD premium channels, otherwise there is no extra charge for HD.

So, what are the HD channels other than "premium" that you get for free?

I get my HD for free. It just has to do with the box you have. Since I have the sports package (which includes all those 103-whatever channels with ESPNEWS, FSC etc.) I need a box anyway for like 7 bucks a month plus the remote for 1 or something like that. But when I got my HDTV a few years ago and switched boxes, I was able to get ESPNHD and FSNHD and like National Geographic HD or whatever is past 531 without an extra charge. You can't get ESPNHD etc. without a box, so I guess theres your catch. But you don't have to pay extra if you already have a box and want to switch to an HD box. Its already in your bill.

All the channels except for HDNet, HD Movies, MGM HD, and Universal HD. Basically the HD only channels. If the channel is also SD, then you get the HD channel for free.

Also, the first HD game will not be until April 24th. You would think they would at least broadcast the first game of the season in HD.

I am disappointed the didn't mee their goal of all games in HD but does their SD signal have to look so terrible? The picture is always grainy and washed out on my TV, my TV is calibrated professionally and I have never noticed as bad as FSN WI when watching say the Cubs on WGN in SD or TBS before the HD launched.

another year without buying an HDTV and the HD package, I guess. I told myself that I'll buy both as soon as the Brewers are on HD for (almost) the entire season.

Maybe 2010 is their year.
