Appreciate you posting these Mass

Always fun watching the kids progress.

Does anyone know the status of David Fonseca?

I haven't seen his name in any of the box scores.

I always felt he had some tools - great arm, range, good size.

The organizational roster is still intact, other than the recently reported release of Mike Bell. So if a player isn't in the box scores yet, they must be nursing some sort of injury. As you can imagine, that type of info will be tough to obtain prior to the assignment of rosters. Always nice to see your user name, MT -- your Helena first-hand accounts are always appreciated.

Friday's action:

Portland defeated Nashville, 5-2. Matt Ginter turned in a solid start for the Sounds, tossing four scoreless innings. Richie Gardner picked up the loss in relief. Adam Heether and Freddy Parejo had two hits apiece for the Sounds. Brendan Katin and Cole Gillespie knocked in the Nashville runs with sacrifice flies -- Gillespie already has four sac flies this spring in minor league action.

Huntsville beat Arkansas, 3-1, thanks to a solid pitching performance by the Stars staff. Sam Narron allowed one run in his four innings, Chris Smith threw four shutout innings from the pen to get the win, and Derrick Ellison finished up the three-hit combined effort. J.R. Hopf had two hits and Johnny Raburn added a solo shot late for insurance.

Rancho Cucamonga beat up on Brevard County, 9-2. John Axford allowed all nine of the Quakes runs after Bobby Bramhall started and threw four scoreless innings. We're guessing Axford allowed those runs over 1+ innings (perhaps Rigo Almonte allowed some inherited runners to score), because there's no way Axford is kept in to throw 57 pitches over a single inning. Zelous Wheeler had two hits to lead the Manatees.

Where is Lawrie? Was he injured? The last time i saw his name in a box score was on March 27, playing for Huntsville. He had being playing regularly for Wisconsin before that.
