My AMAZING Trip Down To Spring Training! Autographs Galore! UPDATED! More Autos

bobbledude25

(Mods I thought this post maybe to large for the spring training thread if you have to move it I apologize)

Wow, what a great trip! I got there Tuesday and decided to go see the Giants play the Rangers since the Brewers had off. The KC Royals minor league complex is right across the parking lot and I went over there and chatted with former Brewer Doug Henry for a while. (I used to pitch inside a gym with him near Waukesha a few years ago it was cool he still remembered me). Anyways, went to the game and before the game I also talked with West Bend, WI native Ryan Rohlinger who plays for the Giants. I used to play against him in summer ball, I had a good chat w/him to. For Autographs I pretty much hit the jackpot! Check it out! On a side note....none of these are for trade or sale I'm a collector myself. You also wont see any of these on Ebay thats just pathetic in my opinion

Elvis Andrus (Rangers Shortstop of the Future)......................................................Will Clark!

The next day we went to see the White Sox and the Brewers at the White Sox park. Getting Brewers autographs before the game was super easy! Here is what I all got from that day!

MAT GAMEL......................................................................................LORENZO CAIN

More Brewers.....

Angel Salome (He wanted this picture ha ha)

The day was Thursday when the Brewers palyed the San Diego Padres. Getting autographs is much harder then going to away stadiums to get Brewers autographs. I got some great autos once again though so I left happy!!

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h11/numberonewadefan/Baseball/2009%20Spring%20Training/Cards.jpg

AND FINALLY TO TOP IT ALL OFF! TREVOR HOFFMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h11/numberonewadefan/Baseball/2009%20Spring%20Training/Hoffman8x10.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h11/numberonewadefan/Baseball/signed%20baseballs/Hoffman.jpg

Trevor Hoffman came out of the locker room to the game about half way through the first inning. Everyone that had wanted autographs had returned to there seats. Hoffman signed for myself and two other people and then he disappeared. I never saw him during or after the game. I was simply in the right spot at the right time! I would say I got lucky!

I also have a Weeks and Hardy signed picture not pictured (yet)

PRINCE....................................................................................Counsell, Escobar, Gamel, Hart, Fielder, Don Money, B.Nelson

I'm in Phoenix and thought I'd drive over to Maryvale Park today. I have to catch my flight before game time though. Do you think I'll see much or be able to get close to the players a few hours before game time? Just thought I'd check it out since I'm 10 miles away.

It was a good decision. Large numbers of inline pics don't mix well in a thread that's predominantly discussion.

Either way, there's no need to apologize when the decision isn't obvious. We have lots of options for moving things around. Consider it a service. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

You'd probably be able to get some of the minor league guys but the brewers open the gates an hour and a half before game time and not very many guys were signing before the game started. Hart, Hardy, Nelson, Rottino, Gamel, Escobar, Cain are all good signers so you might have some luck w/them but it was really busy yesterday and today is Friday

I did pretty good at spring training a few years ago. You did really well. I hope Hoffman does a signing sometime throughout the year if they don't do auto fridays. Couldn't get him at the on deck, I really like his sig. Hamilton on the sweetspot is great too! Did you request it, or did he just sign it?

Thanks! I didn't request sweet spot for anyone. I just handed them the ball and they signed wherever they wanted. Hamilton was very personable and signed for about a dozen or so people. Many people had him sign a book of him that must have just come out

hoffman and hamilton are two of the best signers in the game, i'm not surprised that you got either of them, they are both awesome...

Nice job...

I have to ask, why no Gallardo? And I'm assuming that you were there while Braun wasn't? That timing kind of sucks...

Too bad to see that Lorenzo Cain isn't sweetspoting...

Did you see Jeffress at all?

Thanks...I was there for 3 days. I saw 2 brewers games, 1 away game and 1 at home. Gallardo I didn't see at either game. No problem w/Braun I got him plenty of times my last spring training so I was fine with it. As for Lorenzo Cain, like I mentioned above I just handed everyone a ball and they singed it wherever they wanted. Would he have sweet spotted? I can almost guarantee he would have he was a supercool guy, same with Escobar. Jeffress was w/the minor leaguers I heard he signed for plenty of people but I was only at Maryvale for 1 day and didnt see them

Jeffress is really good about signing. He is over in minor league camp. Lawrie is also really good. He still has this look on his face that he is shocked that people know who he is. It's kinda cool. Lo will sweet spot, he's a really good guy. Gallardo has been rough, at least for me this year. I got him on some cards and a ball last year and only want ONE card to sign, a combo card with Braun. He will NOT for the life of him sign that card no matter how hard I try. I got Hoffman earlier in the spring and he is a really nice guy. I don't see him being a hard catch if things go well in Mke.

I was able to get Jeffress to sign a ball for me on Thursday. He wouldn't sign on the sweetspot because he's got a contract w/PCM Sports and because his agent, "agent39", was 2 feet away when I asked him. His agent asked me if JJ at least gave me his real signature instead of just "J J" like he apparently does sometimes. I also got Lawrie after the scrimmage. He saw me just hanging out by the dugout eyeing me the entire game as the crowd dwindled and dwindled. He signed for a couple people, but insisted on personalizing it to me. Probably thought I'd sell it, but I actually don't mind getting a few things personalized every now and then. Very nice guy. Was also able to get Rottino to sign his game-used #8 jersey from his rookie year for me as well. Won't see too many of those jerseys around anymore!

Alcides Escobar's signature is cracking me up
The funny thing with Escobar is when I handed him the ball for his autograph it was like he was in super-slow motion signing it. It's apparent that he has a difficult time signing his name isn't it

I'm not an autograph guy at all, but what's the deal with the sweet spot and some guys will and some won't sign there?

I like when players ask where you want them to sign. But at Tigerfest this year I had a major problem with the prospects signing over one another almost on the balls. Plus I got a ball with a sewn on logo signed by Gerald Laird, when I looked at it the logo had to be upside down to display the auto correctly.

I bet he changes his signature within the next year. If he is going to be signing autographs a lot he can't sign like that. You can actually read it mostly. His signature stuck out like a sore thumb amongst the others.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.
