National League Rookie of the Year (merged with SmartBall's tulo thread and craigharmann's "Braun and Yo for ROY?" thread)

Yeah, that's my bad. When you mentioned that the defensive stats were back up I started thinking it was just a defensive stat. I need to pay better attention.

That all being said, isn't WARP similar to VORP in that it is somewhat dependent on AB's?

I realized last night, that Yo now has 9 wins. What about Braun and Yo being co-ROY? If we didn't have Braun up this year, wouldn't Yo be a shoo-in for ROY? This is what has me giddy as a Brewer fan, is that we have the best rookie slugger this year and the best rookie pitcher. And what a rookie pitcher he is! The confidence and the intestinal fortitude he's got is amazing. I think Yo is my new man crush.

Well, there's always the Tulowitzki factor. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif And given that Yo was a later callup, I think you'd find Pence back in the heart of the race.

It'd be a close call, but if there were no Braun, I think I'd end up voting:

  1. Tulowitzki
  2. Gallardo
  3. Pence

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Gallardo's ranked 5th in VORP for rookie pitchers in the NL. I think he'd be far from a shoo-in.

Yep. My guess is that if you looked at strictly pitchers the voting would go. I would be surprised if Gallardo gets more votes than Linecum.

1.) Linecum

2.) Gallardo

3.) Moylan.

If I had a ballot -- I would probably go something like

1.) Tulo

2.) Braun

3.) Pence

4.) Linecum

5.) Yo

If you take Tulo over Braun, you have to take Pence over Braun as well.

No -- Tulo has a much higher WARP over Pence/Braun. Pence and Braun are in the same ballpark, -- I do think Braun and Pence are pretty close though, and it I could certainly understand putting Pence ahead of Braun, but right now I would give Braun the nod, especially considering he is helping the Brewers lead Ned Yost to the playoffs.
