24 hours of Kanye: How to Deal with Obnoxious Neighbor

The people that live below me are playing Heartless by Kanye West on a continuous loop. I'm guessing they have a pet or something and are trying to keep it company while they're gone. I should call the humane society because having to listen to the same Kanye West song over and over again is probably considered animal cruelty. Yesterday it was from 7:15am until 6:45pm or so. This morning it started around 8am and is still running. I work from home in case anyone wonders why I'm still here.

Anyway, I'm going out of town this weekend and was thinking of pointing my speakers at the floor and putting a song of my own on a continuous loop. I want it to be the opposite of Kanye West. Here are some ideas:

MmmBop - Hansen

Boot Scoot Boogie - Brooks and Dunn

Theme to St. Elmo's Fire (Man in Motion) - John Parr

I Can't Drive Fifty Five - Sammy Hagar

Cherry Pie - Warrant

I've Got Friends in Low Places - Garth Brooks

I'd appreciate any other suggestions.

I once went to a bar in Brainerd and set "Radar Love" on the jukebox to play 4 times in a row. Only the bartender noticed. It was awesome.

But if you really want to drive them nuts you gotta go Lesley Gore. Trust me on this.

Kat's suggestion cannot be topped. Might as well head over to iTunes download it and get ready to blast away. Im only 45 seconds into the video above and I already want to kill myself. If only there was some what to subject them to that hideous yellow sweater and matching pants outfit she is wearing.

This is the best suggestion so far, in my opinion. The over-use of this song in "The Brothers Solomon" was an extremely funny component of an otherwise OK movie.

I actually wrote alternate lyrics to that Lesley Gore song but they cannot be repeated here.

Holy smoke. First I wonder if the hair below his hat on his forehead is his own or part of the hat. The mustache is pretty much a requirement for this era and genre. Who is he looking at when he is signing? The lyrics are about the worst I have ever heard.

Nice one. While we're sharing obscure 60's and 70's music, here's an instrumental I could use.....although it loses much of its steam without the video.

I guess I dont understand why you arent so thrilled about getting to listen for kanye for any extended period of time. But i guess if I had to pick a song, how about The Song That Never Ends...and it really never will. Just as you think it does...BAM, it gets replayed.

Kanye himself isn't so awful - although not my cup of tea - but it's the same song over and over and over again. I'd get sick of Stairway to Heaven if it was played 400 times in a row.....well, maybe not.

Anyway, here is the song I'm dealing with. Can pretty much sing it by heart at this point:

I'd also like to throw in Abba's Waterloo.

One of the best pop songs ever in my opinion. Also a complete gateway for many awesome awesome power pop bands. Great for dance parties as well. (Abba is statistically proven to put people in better moods, and contain memorable choruses after one listen)

Seeing how your neighbors are into Kanye, they probably aren't aware, or care for Melt Bannana, Minor Threat, Shellac, Bad Brains, or Henry Rollins spoken word. That might work into your favor if your looking for long term annoyance. If your looking to go right for the throat, I'm Too Sexy by Right Said Fred. You could probably also win by playing any tv sitcom theme on repeat. 30 seconds a track times 24 hours plus.... they'll be getting full satisfaction 2880 times and change.

The other possibility is just playing the same Kanye song you keep hearing while your gone all weekend.

Please keep us updated how this all pans out.

Have you considered, you know, talking to them about this issue?
Where's the fun in that?
