Any Rossetta Stone users?

lodiness
Thinking of traveling over seas next year sometime and thought that it would be good to learn the language a bit. Has anyone used any Rosetta Stone software? In particular any Asian Languages since I think that I will be going to Tokyo. Are they fairly simple? Does it just teach you basic phrases, or does it just teach you words? Basically want to be able to do all of the basic travel stuff. How much something costs, directions, etc.? Any input would be appreciated.

If you are going to numerous countries in Asia I would say you could worry about Japanese last. Honestly, Tokyo is extremely easy to travel around. All the trains have roman spelling and the train stations all have maps in roman letters. You really don't need much Japanese to get around because anyone under 50 will know more English than you will be able to pickup in Japanese. Enjoy..Tokyo is a great city.

I have used mango languages which is fairly new. I have used it to learn some Spanish and French. The free version is alright if you are just looking to learn some basic things. The paid subscription gives you more advanced learning material. Mango Languages
