Reliever Wes Littleton cleared waivers and will remain with the team to compete for a spot in the bullpen, although that seems like a long shot. His roster spot is now open and could mean the Brewers will add Chris Duffy.

 

That's news because I don't believe anyone had reported that Littleton had been placed on waivers. Looks like he'll be in Nashville.

So much for Nixon's being this year's Gabe Kapler. Let's hope Hart's spring isn't a mirage and he and Braun stay healthy because they have no proven corner backup OF anywhere on the roster.

 

Who would have guessed Carlos Corporan would have more hits and more RBI this spring than Nixon?

I'm OK with Duffy and Nelson as backups. While Duffy doesn't have Kapler's power, he was a pretty good hitting in the minors and is a good defender. Nelson can hold a glove out in the corners in an emergency and add hopefully bash some bombs.

Per Haudricourt, Hoffman was put on DL retroactive to March 27th, meaning he'll miss a minimum of 4 games. Wes Littleton, Lindsay Gulin and Carlos Corporan were all sent to minor league camp but told they would accompany team to LA to face Dodgers. Have to think Gulin and Corporan, who were on nobody's radar when camp opened, made nice impressions on staff and are being rewarded with trip to LA even as extra guys.
