20 tents of people already for Brewers tickets!

These guys are nuts! Aren't they better off just working or just buying them from a broker? With the money they could have made by working during the time they are waiting, they could have bought a 9 pack with an Opening Day ticket. I'm sure it may be neat to bond with other Brewer fans, but I can think of many different ways to do so.

Last Saturday a buncha guys showed up and the Brewers told them to go home. TH (I think) blogged about it on jsonline.

This is the first year in 3 years I haven't done it. 2006 I didn't know how to go about getting group tickets, and stayed there for one night to get 50. 2007, first one in line at 2pm on that Thursday, got 66, sold 16 on eBay and made like 750 dollars. Not having a job at the time, paid two months rent, and was a blast. We were also all over the morning news that Friday. Last year, 3rd in line at 5am on that Thursday. Could only get 4 tickets per person, and missed the 9 pack opening day bidding because of lack of money. We did get on CNN and my friend could be seen shotgunning a beer during the reporters segment.

This year, full time job, got a 9 pack, and do not plan on camping out.

Totally great though! Especially if your in college or just out of it. We stayed up late and did a lot of drinking. Brewers Camp is a great time to talk about the team, especially with Spring Training just starting, and meet other Brewers fans. Tomorrow night, myself and the other couple guys I camped with might just stop down there to share a beer or two in the mid afternoon. But I'm kinda looking forward to not having to pack up our tents at 5am in the cold so they can get ready for the big sale.

It would be great if they invented some sort of system where you could order the tickets off of your computer at home, without having to camp out in freezing temps, miss work, etc. Anyone want to look into that?

They could even try to randomly assign who gets first dibs on the Opening Day seats....a sort of "virtual waiting room", as it were.

Dare to dream!

the guys staying in the cardboard shanty have to be regretting their decision not to invest in an extra tarp or two right about now.

mother nature - 1, cardboard shanty - 0.

more rain and gusty winds predicted tonight, turning into snow by morning.

Maybe they figure Cub fans won't be as likely to wait in the cold weather for tickets.

My friend is camping out there. He enjoys the experience and the ability to brag about how he got the tickets. He's also the type to care more about drinking and picking fights with Cubs fans. That's why I normally don't go to games with him.

Are there any opening day tickets left? Besides SRO and obstructed views?

I was told that all they have left is standing room, obstructed view, and single seats. Everything else went to season ticket holders, which is how it should be, IMO. I think the way they do the arctic tailgate is good. By only selling them in person on Saturday it pretty much guarantees the tickets are going to die hard fans that for one reason or another, don't spend the money for a 9-pack and get it done with early.

Wouldn't do it. Always laugh at the people camping outside of stores waiting for the "right" to spend $500.00 on a new video game system.

Season ticket holders had first dibs, random drawing winners had second dibs. I can't imagine anything worth the hassle, money and embarrassment of camping out for multiple days. You can log on to milwaukeebrewers.com faster than it takes for the line and face-to-face transaction to be completed anyway. Your odds of getting a seat that's behind a structural beam would probably be just as good at home.

Rather pay the extra beans in comfort, while having a seat that can view the game.

I agree with everything you said bucksbeat except the embarassment part. There is nothing, in my mind, about camping out looking to get tickets. Would I ever do it? I highly doubt it, but that isn't because I would be embarrassed to do so, it's because I don't have as much dedication to get tickets at face value.

I'm just gonna go online tomorrow morning and get tickets for the Memorial Day game vs. St. Louis and get tickets for the May 3rd game against Arizona which is Braun bobblehead day and happens to be the day after my wedding. So me and the new Mrs. can go to our favorite place for our first full day of being married. The rest of the year I just get tickets as I seee games fit that I wanna go to or can go to.

Bucksbeat, that makes sense for any other day of the year. I won't argue that at all. If you aren't camping out for opening day tickets, I wouldn't have done it. But the Brewers sell tickets early at the box office prior to when the online ticket sales start. I think one hour prior. However, I don't know anyone who can argue why they shouldn't do that, especially the conditions of the weather in February.

One more note, last year, I asked them to get the 4 best tickets I could get. They were like 15th row behind homeplate. $625 for the four. I turned it down and got terrace reserved. Also, the "obstructed" seats they have aren't like the obstructed seats at say Wrigley. That usually means, there's a railing near you so you might not be able to see the foul territory as well, but everything on the field is perfect. There's only a few hundred of truly obstructed seats at the Keg IMO. I think the Brewers reserve close to 2000 tickets for the people campin out.

Maybe somebody like Al Gore could invent something like this...

Yeah, I think people are missing the fact that a lot of this is just goofy fun.

I mean, they brought a beer pong table out there...one guy is living in a shanty made of cardboard boxes. Come on.

i think if i was back in college and could spend the 3-4 days in a tent it would be fun. There is plenty of fun to be had i am sure and i'd enjoy just hanging out with fellow die-hards for the time i was out there. That being said I'm happy that i already have tickets to most of the games i wanted to go to by splitting a full season and can stay inside.

What would be the fun in that... sitting at home in your warm pj's?

I have gone early (3am ish), but never slept over night for past 3 years and it is as much about the experience as getting tickets. Cooler + food + chair= fun! Already have a 20-pack but other games are appealing and it is interesting to see who else is there. As would be expected there are some real characters.

Last night on my second chance pre-sale offer, I got 3 obstructed view tix for $45 a piece to the June 13th game against the White Sox. They are the Loge Outfield box section 231, row 1, seats 1-3....I don't know how obstructed they are, but I figured I'd take the chance

Probably won't be much. Probably just a railing just to your right that may be in your way, especially maybe for seat 1 (since the way your seats will be situated, a "straight-ahead" view would have you looking into the outfield -- to look at home plate, you have to look to your right).

I think in general, only seats with railings in the way of the infield (or some part of the field/foul play fairly close to it) count as obstructed view. I have sat in Bernie's Terrace before, and Bernie's dugout does literally block the whole outfield if you're in a higher row. However, those tickets aren't listed as obstructed view (at least they weren't when I sat there.) The only obstructed view seats I have ever sat in have all been terrace seats and have been ones where there's a handrail just in front of you, blocking a small portion of the infield.

And just for the record, there are 106 Uecker seats.
