Batting Order to start the 2009 season

UeckerAddict
It got scrapped because JJ was sick of hitting in front of the pitcher... at least, that's how I remember it.

But JJ was moved anyway. The team hit a slump and Yost scrapped it. I do think batting order is important but is measured incorrectly. Yes aggregate runs don't matter, and in games decided by 3 or more runs it won't matter. But it 1-2 run games giving Braun1 more PA over Hart or Hardy is a big deal.

Look on the first page and you will see that Ennder and I liked this almost exact lineup. I would take Fielder 2 instead of Braun because of OBP. Hardy or Hart is a push since I think they are pretty similar hitters.

Edit: Part of the reasoning for Weeks batting leadoff over the other 2 is that he has the highest BA-OBP split meaning he gets on base without hits more often than the other 2. The leadoff spot is where the difference between getting on base with a single, HBP or walk makes the least difference because the leadoff hitter bats the most often with the bases empty. Like 10% more often than in any other spot in the order. Link

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

Putting Fielder at #2 indicates that you've been reading The Book.

No, I can't say that I'd keep Rickie hitting third, but I'll say that if he's "on," he provides both OBP and SLG. I like that in a leadoff hitter. I have no quarrel with his current lineup spot, though. With Braun out, it's necessary to go with the flow.

Note: this thread was "undesignated" in the Designated Threads List not too long ago. Since it was bumped and there's no newer lineup thread, I'm going to put it back. It's as good a place as any for general lineup discussion. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

I'd like to see Hart stay at the one and put Weeks in the 2 hole once Braun is back for good. I know "The Book" and in an ideal world Braun would hit 4, but since that isn't changing any time soon, I think this is our next best option in my opinion. Weeks' new found power fits better at the 2 spot than the 1, and Harts new found patience works perfectly hitting leadoff.

At least that's how I set it up on MLB '09.
