Question about Minor League Splits web site

I've been looking at BABIP numbers on www.minorleaguesplits.com and their stats are different than www.baseball-reference.com The total ABs and total hits are different. Anyone use minor league splits? Anyone know of a way to let the dude know his stats are wrong? Or can let me know if I'm misinterpreting something?

Here's Taylor Green as an example:

or Escobar

The minor league splits links didn't work for me, FYI.

I compared a bunch of different sites and the only one that doesn't match the others is minor league splits, I never noticed the difference because I've never looked at any full season lines before.

Isn't that one of Jeff Sackmann's sites? He's a regular contributor at BCB, I believe if you sign up you can contact him directly over there.

Ah crap. Well you can get to the player search from the page I linked to anyway.

I thought that was Jeff Sackman's site. Thanks. I'll contact him.

The difference is probably that Jeff's data is generated from minor league play-by-play logs, though he probably told you that already if you emailed him. Those can be prone to error. The disparities in the two you listed were only two at-bats and 1 hit. It's possible Jeff might exclude something from AB that B-R includes, like reached on fielder's choice or something obscure.

Thanks, Jihad (by the way, nice article on Escobar's BABIP).

Thanks. If anyone else is interested (and considering the forum, I'd assume yes) Jeff has recently added TotalZone defensive stats (compared to average runs) as well as spray charts to the Minor League Splits database. It's a great resource.
