Escobar listed as prospects that could go

According to mlb.com, a prospect that the Brewers could trade to get late inning relief help is Alcides Escobar because we already have JJ Hardy established at Shortstop.

How much value does Escobar have around the majors? Could he bring in the bullpen help that we need?

Escobar could be part of a deal. Alone I'd guess he'd be enough to get a decent reliever but nothing more.

 

The Brewers have other shortstop prospects so I wouldn't be very opposed to trading Escobar.

Yep, I would agree, almost any IF/OF could be had for a pennant worthy addition. Escobar and Parra in a package would get us all but the very top guys for 2 months.

I would say that his value would be rather variable for different organizations. He's had some solid performances and has some nice tools and has been young for his levels, but there hasn't been a tremendous amount of great stats. So I could see some teams really liking him and others not valuing him hardly at all.

I must say with my boy Brewer behind him, Escobar does become expendable. Though if he can gain some consistency at the plate I would love him as a utitility guy in the future. That young man can play some serious D.

With both Hardy and Hall at the MLB level, and Brewer coming behind him, Escobar is a great choice. You have to give quality to get quality (unless you're dealing with the Reds).
