Can someone explain MLB Power Pros 2008 to me?

Does anyone have any tips on this game? I'm really struggling with Success mode. I can't seem to increase my vitality and I got fired at the end of my first year even though I did pretty well when I got to play. Somehow, I think I even turned down a promotion to AAA too, haha. I've heard good things about the game from people on the board here, but i'm kind of lost and the instruction manual really isn't giving me any kind of guidance on this. Thanks!

I haven't played 2008 yet but I know the original version was based almost entirely on luck when it came to getting promoted. You really had to have some big games, and a lot of it was simply getting good cards going into the game.

I was able to get promoted and made it to the major leauges, but only by using custom mode or something like that rather than manual.

for such an involved game, I wish the manual had more details. Like on an exhibition game I can put guys in the bullpen to warm up, but when I'm doing a season, I don't have that option? The gameplay on it is pretty good though and I'm not minding the graphics at all either, which was my main concern.
