I like the middle deal although that might be a slight overpayment. The last one, I can't decide. Vazquez used to be really good but he hasn't done much in the last 4 years. I think I would pass, considering the fact that Vazuez is making a ton of money. I would pass on the first deal as well, just because I don't think Griffer will keep up anything near this pace (it's his best season since 199http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/glasses.gif and because to okay a trade with the Brewers he would probably demand a contract extension (like Randy Johnson and Gary Sheffield got when they got dealt) which I don't feel would be smart of the Brewers.

If I was a Reds fan I would shoot the GM if he made that trade. The guy is close to 600 HR and he gets traded for Jenkins? Terrible. Trades two and three are not as wild and extreme, but I wouldn't do them either. I propose we do nothing since Buehrle is no longer available. A for effort.

Vazquez has been nothing short of amazing especially pitching for an awful, awful White Sox team. (WHIP=1.09!, 8.5 K/9, 3.77 era in the AL Central). Since Vazquez is also just 30 and signed for three more seasons, I do not think the Sox are "motivated to move him."

Griffey isn't going anywhere, period. As it stands his nightmare of a contract is set to expire after the 2008 season. Shortly thereafter Griffey will turn 39. In this era of old ball players hanging around forever, I would assume that Griffey vetoes trades to any team, unless they are willing to extend his contract.

As for the Rangers, there is really no point in picking up Lofton. With a healthy Bill Hall, the Brewers wouldn't be able to get Lofton enough bats to justify picking him up.Going forward what is really the difference between Lofton and Gwynn at this stage in their careers. Moreover, I think Melvin will find the market for Otsuka to be hotter than he expects, and will take more than crap like Dessens or Gross to bring him in.

How would it be overpayment and not giving up pretty much nothing?

Gross hasn't proven anything except a nice 200 at bats last year where he didn't have to face lefties.Rottino is an overaged prospect who at best will be a bench player in the bigs.Zach Jackson is barely a prospect anymore,he's get beat up in AAA and didn't show anything impressive while up last year.

If i'm Texas,i hit the reject button on that offer without a second thought and shop Otsuka elsewhere. If i didn't get a better offer,i just keep him over Gabe Gross and two fringe prospects.
