Yeah, I have heard rumbling about a Moneyball movie for a couple of years now. That was my reaction too. I read the book and thought it was interesting, but thought of it more of something that hard core baseball fan "stat-heads" are interested in...not as a feature film with Brad Pitt.

I can see how some of the chapters could be pieced together into a decent movie plot (e.g. the draft room, going through a portion of the season with potential trades, etc.) but you just know they are going to be loose with the details for dramatic effect, and that will be its downfall for anyone that has read the book or for hardcore baseball fans who will see right through it. I do realize, however, that hardcore baseball fans are rarely an audience to which Hollywood often tries to cater. They must be counting on Brad Pitt = $$.

The book was loose with the facts for dramatic effect.

 

Do you think in the Hollywood version the A's will go on to win the World Series and along the way an Oakland father will strengthen his relationship with his family?
In the sequel, we find out that George Steinbrenner is Billy Beane's father.

That picture is just screaming for Kevin Spacey to take the role. Beane is just as diabolical as Spacey's character from Seven so it should be an easy transition for him.
