Lechner?

Any update on this guy? His website hasn't been updated in ages. I'm just wondering if he's still in school. Jaybird, aren't you back at UWW? Any idea?

I'm pretty sure he's still in school... last I heard he was going to graduate this spring, but he seems to say that yearly. I looked on his Facebook page, and it says he's going to be graduating in '10... so who knows.

I see him around the area once in a while, actually. I believe he's still at Whitewater.

I've seen him bartending at a restaurant in Fort Atkinson, so he's still in the WW area at least.

When I returned as a student last fall, the Lechner talk was not nearly as prevalent as it was during my first stint as a student (2001-2005). I had to take this spring semester off due to family circumstances so I will return to UWW next fall for a FOURTH stint (2001-2005, Spring 2006, Fall 2008, Fall 2009-?).

Anyhow, some of the newer students I talked with last semester told me he still hangs around UWW. Not entirely sure what he has been doing, but the media hype has fizzled a bit apparently.

Just noticed his website blog said he just started his "29th college semester", so he is indeed still going.

Am I the only one who thinks this dude is kind of a loser?

No, not really. That's why he doesn't get much attention or press anymore...he kept playing out the "Hey, I'm actually coming back for one more year!" thing one too many times. People around campus think he's basically a joke. I mean, I graduated from Whitewater more than six years ago, and the guy has poured drinks for me at a local bar as recently as a few months ago. Not that there's anything wrong with bar tending, but after all those years of school, you'd think someone would aspire to a bit more than that.

 

But then again he supposedly has all these different projects going, so who knows, he could end up making a bunch of money off all this and get the last laugh...but I doubt it.

He's really damaging his earning potential as well. Not only has he lost out on like 8 years worth of real wages (bar tending part-time doesn't count), employers are going to look at his resume and think he has major issues that would prevent him from being hired.
