Team-leader tracker

jaybird2001wi

We don't really have a thread for this yet. But since some of our players are young and will no doubt creep up into the Top 10 All-Time team leaderboard, maybe we could make a "meter tracker" thread and utilize it during the season? Not sure about the percentage stats since I don't know what would be the "qualifying cut-off" for players. But according to baseball-reference.com, there are some alarming and welcoming trends to the players we currently have on the team.

I will post each statistical category post-by-post to make it easier to swallow. I used the player's 162-game "average" and made projections based on these observations. Ryan Braun's home run average may increase and walk totals may increase, so it may be difficult to extrapolate this data.

Also, some of Yount's team records may never be reached as he will probably be the last and only Brewer to play for 10 or more seasons in Milwaukee.

Bill Hall averages 75 runs per 162-game season

Prince Fielder 88 runs per 162-game season

Ryan Braun 112 runs per 162-game season

After 2011 when Bill Hall (pending the club nullifying his team option for 2011) and after 2010 when Fielder's contract expires, here is what the Top 10 in runs will look like following the 2011 season:

1.

Robin Yount

1632

2.

Paul Molitor

Now Ryan Braun will not begin to emerge into the Top 10 until the conclusion of the 2012 season when he makes a major leap. It is my opinion that from the 2011 to 2012 season will be Braun's biggest leap in all statistical categories. Following his 2012 projected season which he will accumulate his 631st career run, the Top 10 in runs will look like this:

1.

Robin Yount

1632

2.

Paul Molitor

1275

3.

Cecil Cooper

821

4.

Jim Gantner

Don Money

8.

Bill Hall

573

9.

Ben Oglivie

567

10.

Prince Fielder

543

Now these figures are assuming Bill Hall and Prince Fielder will be elsewhere following the expiration of their contracts. But the longer they play as a Brewer, the higher the marks they will create. JJ Hardy, Corey Hart and Rickie Weeks were not calculated into these figures because of possible rumors of them going elsewhere.

But at the conclusion of the 2014 season, it will seem like Braun will "plateau" in the record books and stay in third unless he plays in Milwaukee longer.

COMING UP NEXT.... Hits...

By the way, according to the seasonal averages compiled by Braun and Hall, Hall could potentially place third All-Time in strikeouts. Also, Braun's low walk totals will not even project him to be a Top 10 candidate following the expiration of his current contract.

I think you are overlooking the fact that Hall isn't likely to be an everyday player for the rest of his Brewers career. Weeks is more likely to end up in the top ten than Hall is.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

Its a fine idea to track this during the season, but do we really need to copy and paste all the leaderboards from BR.com to this thread? Wouldn't a link suffice? BR.com does update them each day during the season, I believe - we could simply use this thread to monitor active players as they climb them and post updates when they do.

EDIT: Nevermind, I see what you're doing. I ran through your posts and just thought you were copying and pasting, but I see you are adding projections. My bad.

It's hard to see anyone ever surpassing Yount with the way the current rules of baseball are designed with Small Market teams only getting control of players for 6 years, and if you're lucky a few more. Luckily, greed hasn't taken over Ryan Braun like it has to many other players so if any player has a chance to do it, it's him, because I could see him as a career Brewer, but we will see.

Braun seems like a top 5 candidate for both triples and doubles. His 8 triples per season average is the most overlooked stat among his many other accomplished feats so far.

Braun will not emerge in the doubles top ten until after the 2012 season as like all his statistics will make a major jump. Pending a Brewers' contract option decline on Bill Hall following the 2010 season and if they pick up the option, the after 2012 leaders will look like this:
