Willie Aybar

He switch hits, plays 3rd and 1st (and used to play up the middle too I think), has some power and can take a walk. He's stuck behind Longoria in TB and comes cheap. I think he'd make a much better option than either Lamb or Hall and would be a great guy off the bench at the very least. What would it take to get him?

i love aybar and his skillset a lot. the only problem is that the only guy we have who could help out tampa bay with their roster as presently constructed is hall so we'd probably have to eat a bunch of his salary and then throw in a prospect of some sort too.

with their outfield all full up now (crawford, upton, joyce, gabe, gabe, burrell ) i wonder if fernando perez is someone they'd be willing to shop? he'd look better than any of our 4th outfielder options at this point. but again what could we really even offer the rays?

salome for aybar/perez? i guess only if the brewers think his glove won't play behind the plate.

I guess I never looked to see what the Rays might need. Seriously...what do they need?

Also, I would assume they could use a shortstop with some offense. Jason Bartlett was their MVP in much the same way Adam Everett was the Twins' MVP. And considering the stagnation of their shortstops on the farm, I wouldn't put it past them to have interest in Hall.
