when doug melvin said that i believe even more that it might happen. It makes a crap load of sense if u think about it. I remember reading that the reds wanted a reliever, an outfielder and an infield prospect for dunn and thats what that would be

i would pronounce this dead yet

Maybe other teams' GMs have read some of the posts on brewerfan.net and believe that Matt Wise is made of glass, so Melvin asked Yost to throw him out there for three innings to prove that this wasn't true.

It is odd that they'd basically waste him for the next few days in a blowout game like this. If they weren't trying to showcase him, today would seem to have been a good game to get Parra a couple of innings.

I don't think they were showcasing Wise...for whatever reason, it seems like they're trying to avoid using Manny Parra at all costs while Spurling is away, even if it means pitching Wise for three innings.

Making him throw three innings today also stops people from saying "They didn't bring in Matt today, that must mean he's getting traded!" for a couple days. Plus if they really were trying to show him off, they probably wanted to show off more then him just coming in for an inning and giving up a homer.

wouldn't it make more sense to say that because Parra didn't pitch something could be in the works for him. Is there a better scenario to make your major league debut than the 9th inning today? There isn't.

If Spruling is ready to go, and if Parra is going back to Nashville's rotation, it's possible they didn't want to use him in an inning or two now because they want him to start Sunday.
