Lucroy is going to be the minor league player that I follow most closely this next year. I think that he will probably be the Brewer's starting catcher in a couple of years and will at least serve as a transition to Lawrie or will allow Lawrie to move to another position that fills a hole for the team. I'm really excited about the progress that he has made defensively and I've never been to worried about his bat. Hopefully he can keep the momentum going this year at AA.

Would it be out of the question for him to split the season between AA and AAA? I know that in the past the Brewer's have tried to slow down the speed at which the catchers move through the system.

If Salome makes it, I wonder if Lucroy would hit well enough to play 1B, or move well enough to play 3B or the OF? I'm really high on Lucroy, and I feel better about him as prospect than I do about Salome, mostly because of Angel's defensive struggles. I think Salome has the higher ceiling but doesn't seem to have any position flexibility, which is why I wonder if Lucroy could play elsewhere if it came to that.

I'd be shocked if Lucroy didn't start in AA... unless he blows up in ST and they jump him past Salome to AAA but that's a long shot at best. The AA team should be fun to follow again, and AAA will be worth listening to as well. The Link Report seems so far away in Jan...

"I actually dont think the brewers have tried to slow down catchers...it just happens because the catchers floundered..."

I thought that I remembered reading something where Reid Nichols or someone in a similar position was saying that they like catchers to advance one level per year because that is how long it takes to master the position defensively. Then again I could be totally making that up.
