Vudu: Is this the future?

I've recently bought a PS3 for myself, and a Blu Ray DVD Player for my parents, and I've gotta admit, I feel a little cheated after seeing this:

It's cheaper than BD, has more titles, and doesn't seem to sacrifice any quality. Anyone own this yet?

The future is most likely streaming video. Whether it be vudu or something else (I'm rooting for some sort of Netflix expansion), I'd bet on streaming way before blu-ray.

 

Edit: It will take a pretty solid bandwith expansion to happen on a large scale, but I'd bet on that too.

Netflix does have stand-alone streaming options, just not at the high-def level yet.

Yea, I love me some Netflix HD streaming. They have some stuff in limited options, but I don't like that it scales down to your internet speed rather than letting you buffer a larger portion of the movie. Oh well.

how well do these things stream the audio, though? If you hook it up, I can understand (sort of) getting a 1080p HD picture. But are you getting good quality Dolby Digital 5.1 surround (or DTS if that is your thing?) Or is it just blah audio quality of everything else I have ever watched streamed from the internet?
