Trade Braun while his stock is high? (No, I'm not joking.)

Don't get me wrong, I love what Braun has done for us so far this year but I can't imagine he keeps up this level of play for the rest of the year, or the rest of his Brewer tenure. So why not sell high on him? I trust Graffy or Counsell enough at third.

Why not go after an impact bat like Dunn or Dmitri Young, or a solid arm like Livan Hernandez, Contreras, or Garland?

Just a thought. Agree, disagree?

i really think you are joking, if you not that was the dumbest thing i have ever read and we are all more dumb for reading it. Braun is better then all of them and under control for a long time. I will excuse you this time, please dont let it happen again.

Tell us what you really think.

Eternal Pessimist, welcome to the forum, but I'm going to have to agree with jwill535. (But in a more respectful tone.)

Braun is not only at least as valuable as those other guys right now, but he's also under contract for 6 more years after this season, and playing for league minimum. He's also a main reason why our offense isn't at a complete standstill right now. We are in a pennant race and he might just be our team MVP so far.

Welcome to the site.

I wouldnt personally trade Braun for anyone right now. I see no reason to believe that Braun has hit his high point in his rookie season. I think he is going to be a star for years to come and his bat in the middle of the order is part of what makes this machine go.

There are VERY few players on any team I ever consider untouchable, but Braun is one of them.

lets be nice, gentlemen...

all kidding aside, even if braun cools off, he's still one of the best hitters in the national league...i think you only trade him if you are getting david wright+..

in other words, you cant trade him..

I'm just curious as to what anyone would think Melvin could trade Braun for that would help win more games than having the best hitter in MLB over the last 2 months.

Granted, I'm also going to assume that Braun doesn't end the season with an OPS approaching 1.100, but I can't fathom a scenario where 6 years of pre-free agency Braun is worth only 2 months of Adam Dunn.

I really think that it might be best to assume he's not and maybe try to make him/her feel welcome...

I think you may have a tough time with this request given the idea..... but I only have one strike left, so I'm going to say:

Welcome to our friendly site, sir, and please keep those ideas coming in! We may respectfully disagree on occasion, but we love all posters equally!!

I find it best not to ever label anyone TRULY untouchable, but it is going to truly take a package to get Braun. The Red Sox could probably put together such a package, as could the Tigers. The Dodgers and Angels, as well, could offer pitching a prospects, but none of those teams have a Steve Phillips that we could "take to the cleaners". But for the sake of debate....

Angels-Adenhart/Wood/Shields/Chone

Dodgers-Broxton/Billingsley/Kemp/LaRoche

Tigers-Maybin/Bonderman

Red Sox-Buchholz/Youkilis/Lester

Beyond that, not really interested.

I have to admit I am not terribly familiar with those players...but I don't see why the Brewers would want prospects at this point. I'd think if the Brewers were going to trade Braun, they'd want a quality starting pitcher (like, a can't miss 1-3 spot type guy, not a borderline long reliever), and maybe then throw in a couple upper level prospects.

We're not in rebuild mode at this point.

This reminds me of a guy on the ESPN boards that wants to trade Weeks and Capuano to Washington for Belliard and Ray King.

Wow, that is why Im glad I found this board back when I did and never went to the ESPN board.

As far as trading Braun, I don't think I would trade Braun for anyone. Except maybe Alex Rodriguez. Yeah that is the only guy I would trade him for. And honestly A-Rod cost way to much. So probably wouldn't trade him for anyone.

Belliard is one of my least favorite MLB players...not because he's a bad guy, but I just hate how he looks, running with his gloves in his hands.

I've heard of other players doing that before. the reason for running with the gloves in your hands is that if you have to slide into second base, holding the gloves forces you to slide with your fingers tucked in and not pointed straight out, preventing the runner from jamming his finger and getting injured.

Yeah I'm just not sure if it is because most of his trades involve "cash considerations" and draft picks (even after we told him you can't trade draft picks)

The best (or worst depending on your point of view) was Weeks, Capuano and "moderate cash considerations" for Ronnie Belliard and Ray King.

Maybe Ben Sheets should hold golves while he's pitching.
