The Brewers have a LF who has a 933 OPS after the break the last 3 years. I think they'll stick with him.

If you mean Jenks we are in trouble. This team is in a pennant race he doesn't get hot till the team is out of it.

The team has never been "in it" until this year. This is just anti-Jenkins vitriol, which you do fairly often.

Stop fudding.

Thats often the cliche, but not factually true. The Brewers were within striking distance (less than 5 games)of the wildcard for most of 2005, when Jenkins had the 2nd highest OPS in the NL after the break.

Didn't he miss the last 5 weeks of that season because of a broken finger? No wait...that's the year that he played with a partially torn groin and a fractured hip. It's always interesting when a player has a career best stretch while injured...like Beltre's career year with the Dodgers, when experts speculated he was so good in part cause the injury makes them take a better approach

I think if we want to seriously compete for a playoff run then we HAVE to bring in a productive left fielder.

We have the SP IMO. Gallardo, Sheets, Capuano, Bush is a plenty good enough for a playoff run. Our bull pen is suspect but can get hot at any time.

Our offense has one hole - left field.

So IMO Melvin needs to decide "do we make a run now?" or just hope for the best and be happy with a nice season from a bunch of youngsters?

As a fan I'd like to see us do something now. Obviously the asking prices might be so high that it makes no sense long term or short term. Who knows.
