Mercedes Benz ends sponsorship/New Potowatomi, AirTran Airways Sponsorship Deals

MillerParkSouth

I'm looking forward to seeing a big slot machine in RF, right next to the Citgo gas pump.

Seriously, this is with Bud Selig's blessing??? with his concerns about image? and professional BB,FB,BB can't get into Vegas? let alone to be sponsored by a casino?

Personally I find this to be weird and confusing. What's next--the Chicago Bears presented by Harrahs Casino? or, the New York Jets presented by the Trump Taj Mahal?

The partnership, which will be referred to as "Milwaukee Brewers Baseball presented by Potawatomi Bingo Casino,"
Didn't they say something similar last year on the radio, but with Kohls? I know they said Kohls a lot, but I can't recall exactly when.

It was after every half inning. It was something like "Baseball presented by/brought to you by Kohl's...it's the Brewers 0 and and the Cubs 0" or something like that. It got annoying to say the least.

As long as they keep the advertising off the uniforms, I'm fine. We don't want the Brewers to be like the Milwaukee Miller Lites (I mean Milwaukee Wave).

Im just hoping that when the team runs out of the dugout we don't hear "And now! Your Milwaukee Brewers brought to you by Potawatomi Bingo Casino!" I won't have a problem with it otherwise.

Since they started letting that coin company sponsor the singing of God Bless America on Sundays, anything goes for the almighty $.

Remember the Brewers still have the smallest media market in MLB, and those dollars pale even when compared to markets like St. Louis or Minneapolis. They are a victim of geography and to a large extent will sink or swim on the back of mostly SE WI residents. To the East you have Lake Michigan, to the South you have Chicago with their own teams, to the West you have Minnesota with its own team, and to the North you have a sparse population base more interested in the local NFL team. Yes there are exceptions, and profit sharing helps, but it is true that the Brewers are largely supported financially by residents and businesses of SE WI.

So profitability will always be a battle to be fought and they need every sponsor dollar they can reasonable get just to compete with an 82M payroll.

Yep, I definitely think you hit the nail on the head about the disadvantages the Brewers have.

Hopefully when their TV deal is up in a couple more years, they get a ton of money from whoever ponies up to buy their TV rights, whether that's FSN or someone else. Maybe they could even look at starting their own network.
