Could you provide a link to this provocative-sounding article? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I poked around brewers.com and did a Google News search and couldn't find it.

I think this is the original: http://njfrogman.blogspot...conference-i-came-to.html

Unless someone has a transcript of the news conference, I have trouble taking a quote from a blog at face value.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Maybe he saw how the Brewer fans would boo anyone at any time.
So he went to the one place on earth where fans never boo.

twobrewers, to be honest, that would have just been called an empty gesture by a lot of people. I don't think a rental stint with a team (memorable as it may have been) obligates every player to tearfully say good bye to the fans of that area. I know he did take out an ad in the Cleveland paper after he was traded, so you can't say he disregards the fans after leaving. I just don't know how much he could have said..."Thanks for having me for three and a half months! See you in New York!"?

I'm kinda disappointed that CC didn't purchase the full page Journal Sentinel ad thanking Milwaukee for his time here.

I know it was really short lived - but the fans embraced CC in an epic manner. It would have been a nice touch.

I wouldn't say the window of opportunity for that gesture is completely closed, but I agree with Invader3K - at least to me, it would feel a little hollow. Unless he says something like, "Thanks to everyone in the Brewers' organization and fanbase for helping set up this crazy-lucrative gig I have now."
Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Thats right - I've taken to quoting myself!

Normally I would agree with both of you. But CC Sabathia wasn't Scott Linebrink or Ray Durham. Like I said, it was epic how the Milwaukee fans embraced him. (Watching the highlight DVD brought back how crazy his short time with Milwaukee truly was)

Did CC pitch any games in Milwaukee that weren't a sell out?
