Streak for the Cash

This is an ESPN contest that costs nothing to do. You need to get 25 picks in a row to win 1 million dollars. The premise is simple. There are several choices every day, but you can only pick one at a time. You can make another pick after the first pick has been completed. A couple have gotten to 24 straight and lost, but someone just won the million yesterday on the Steelers victory.

the best i have done so far is 5 in the row, it used to be picking games but now it seems like there are more prop bets. Yesterday I lost because I felt the Vikes would score more off the lions than the packers against the texans. Those types of bets makes things difficult.

Why would you feel that? I'd have taken the Packers for sure on that bet. Since we can't talk football here anyway, I'll end with that.

 

Oh yeah, I stink at that Streak game as well. I think 2 or 3 has been my high. I have only tried a handful of times, though.

I know a guy was at 24 and lost picking the Packers over the Saints.

 

There was an interesting discussion at another message board. If you were at 24, why not wager 500k with a Sportsbook and definitely have a positive EV no matter the outcome of your final game?

That is a good questions. I'd be scared that ESPN would find something "not right" with my registration or something. Plus the fact that if you win the Streak and lose the bet and something like that would happen you probably would get shot by your wife or some family member.

There is a chance you could lose both depending on what you are picking. Also, you would need to have 500k to bet 500k.

I should recruit my mother to do this. She knows almost nothing about football but win the office pick 'em contest every week. One week she forgot to pick the winner for the Eagles/Bengals game. Apparently she had inside info the Donovan McNabb didn't know there were ties in the NFL...

Not only would you need the $550,000 to win $500,000 up front in order to hedge your bet, but doesn't ESPN also only pay that prize in yearly installments? Plus you have to figure in taxes too.
