The worst fast food items you ever had

InsomniacInkRoss

I was gonna make this a "top 5" but I couldn't think of 5. These are single items, they could even be from places you like. 3 on my list I could not finish, and 1 is based on the after effects.

1. White Castle "Burger" - The horrendous day after the last time I ate there propels them to the top of the list. So strong is my hate for these things that I promised $100 cash to a friend if I ever eat anything from there a again.

2. Cajun McChicken - Had this in Las Vegas in 2002ish. Bright Red chicken patty? That should have been warning enough. Threw half away.

3. Burger King Taco - Had this in Milwaukee around 2003 or 2004, just a bad idea, even at 2 for $1. They used a slice of cheese in the taco, a slice! Ate one, chucked the other.

4. McDonalds BBQ Pork Sandwich - Had this in Milwaukee in 98 or 99. Not the McRib (which isn't that great but I can eat). This disaster of a sandwich was shredded something, with some awful awful awful sauce all over it. One bite, then in the trash.

Honorable mention to the "Cheeseburger" I had at the Indy 500 that was just a burger with a hefty ladle full of nacho cheese on top.

I love White Castle, but WC is a love it or leave it type place, so I understand. Though I did like the BK tacos too, so maybe I'm crazy.

The spicy chicken sandwich from Burger King was terrible. There was a bun, an overcooked dry small piece of chicken with some pepper on it, and some mayo. I bought two, and didn't get through the first one.

Taco Johns is alright, but highly overrated. My friends drag me there any chance they get, and it's basically the same crummy food taco bell offers, but more expensive. They always go nuts over the potato oles, they're just plain old tator tots, who cares?

The double cheeseburgers are the biggest catch 22, but I eat them cuz they're on the dollar menu, and refuse to pay more than a few bucks at most fast food places these days. But then I get it, and it usually sucks, and I feel like garbage.

I'm all for the value menu at fast food places (which could be why it's crap). But Checkers has a good dollar menu. Just stick to the burgers, the chicken isn't the best, but the fries are outta control good!

The McDonalds Southern chicken. ACK! I took one bite and tossed the rest of the rancid thing out the window. I disagree w/ the Potato Ole's comment...those things rule...especially when mashed in to a soft shell taco!! MMM, I may just need to make a TJ's run right now!!

I had a bad experience with the McRib one Christmas. So sick the rest of the week. Never again--taste aversion is a wonderful thing. Same thing goes with Southern Comfort. But that's another story.

Also the McBLT was kinda meh.

In Singapore, the McDonalds chains all have a chicken sandwich called McSpicy. It's a breaded mostly dark-meat chicken patty. I believe the breading is about 25 percent black & white pepper, and the only thing you taste is the searing burn of pepper in your throat.

That pepper burn stays with you throughout the entire cycle of that sandwich's journey through your body, if you understand where I'm going. . .

And a couple of weeks ago, they introduced the Mega McSpicy, which is the same sandwich, with two of those flamebombs on them.

I don't think I'm going to opt for that one.

I'm pretty much with Valpo--I can down pretty much any item from a fast food place or even a convenience store. But my one venture into the Gilbert Burger from BK is the lone exception. It was just a 3,000 calorie pile of slop. I didn't get through more than a few bites.

McDonald's seems to usually deliver the goods, although (sacrilege to some, I know) I think the McRib is gross. Taco Bell is good.

Burger King seems to have gotten really bad lately. It seems like the food is always cold, and the buns don't seem fresh. The one thing I did like was getting their "zesty" sauce with fries, but they started charging for that -- even just one pack to go with fries. Charging for condiments!

for the first time in my life, tonight i ate a pink hotdog. apparently they're common in the south. kinda like bologna if you let it sit in the heat for a while and added spices.

worst fast-food experience was the McRib. only later did i realize there were onions on the thing, so when i bit down i was expecting something soft, except i got a crunch. it's not that it was bad-tasting, but just that quick change in expectations completely ruined it for me.

My worst fast-food experience was when I ordered a McRib (which I love) "Plain"; as in I didn't want the onions and such. I drove away and found that I had received a McRib without barbecue sauce on it, and let me tell you; those pieces of meat look absolutely disgusting when you can see what they really are (a grey patty with fake grooves and grillmarks).

I ate a bite and wanted to vomit. I still love the McRib, but wow that almost scarred me.

My worst fast food experience was eating at a McDonalds in Cancun. The burger was dry and tasted like somebody used it to wipe their butt. Other than that I haven't really had any fast food I didn't like. Of course I rarely eat fast food and when I do it is usually pretty basic.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

Generally when I go to McDonald's late at night all the burgers are old, stale, and pretty much disgusting. When I have a late night food craving for me Taco Bell is always option #1. When McDonalds tries to get to creative with new "higher class" products they are usually gross because they use the same crappy ingredients that may taste good on a burger may not taste so good on once of those chicken sandwiches they introduced a while back.

If Fazoli's is considered fast food I would say that their food is pretty sub par as well.

i rarely try new fast food things, so i dont put myself in many situations like some of the ones described above.

however, i will never eat a mcrib again. i thought i liked them, so i got one and ate it during the brewers/philles playoff game with CC on the mound.

not only was the mcrib downright awful, but as soon as i started eating it, CC gave up the grand slam to victorino. mcrib = never again

I like Fazoli's, though I've gotten sick of it, since it's my son's favorite fast food place.

Only had Taco John's once and thought it was disgusting.

While not terrible, I'm not a fan of Culver's Butterburgers. My uncle accurately describes them as "cremated".

I've got to agree that Burger King is going down hill. I won't be back after the last experience. It took 25 minutes to get our food and it wasn't that busy. The manager blamed it on a shift change, complained that she'd been there since 5:30 (it was 5 pm), and hid in the back not helping out at all. The idiot who took our order cleared out the system, didn't complete the orders and just went in the back to work the grill. The new shift was left to pick up the pieces. Everyone in the drive through got taken care of and people who came after us go taken care of. Three of us were left waiting. We complained, but no one had a clue.

EDIT: I just remembered. A Solly's burger is the most disgusting pile of grease that I've ever tasted.

I have to second long john silver's.

I know deep fried fish is greasy but that fish was 100% disgusting and I can eat just about anything.

I have to agree with the person's mention of the double cheeseburger from McDonald's dollar menu too.

For $1 it seems like a great idea but after you finish you wonder to yourself why you keep doing that to yourself.

I can't think of a specific item that was the "worst", it's more of a good/bad thing...I mostly order the same things at places I go and usually it's either really good, or just kind of average at best, and when it's bad it's usually just due to the food being cold. Like others, I don't try a lot of new stuff at fast food places so maybe that's why. But, come on...a McRib? That just sounds gross, of course it's going to be questionable. I also like the dollar menu at places (though I read that these will probably start disappearing with the cost of meat going up...but who knows). I love that Wendy's has their double stacks on the dollar menu now though, beats McD's every time. Tough to beat two double stacks and a value order of fries all for 3 bucks.

I always order my burgers/sandwiches/subs plain, so that seems to ensure the items are usually at least made "fresh" (no condiments, lettuce or tomatoes etc.). Just meat and cheese for me. I loved that Wendy's commercial about being a "meatatarian", described me perfectly. But, as much as I loved the Baconator....it just made me feel like a jerk afterwards. I don't know why, but it was a total shot to my self esteem after thinking about what I just consumed. Anyone else always go through feelings of guilt after eating fast food? Weird.

edit: Also, lately I've been ordering fries with "no salt". This is also nice because it ensures the fries will be hot and freshly made, and not drenched in salt making them inedible (here's looking at you McD's). You have to wait a couple minutes, but I'd rather add salt to my own taste anyways.

Love the free breadsticks, yum!

I think they quit doing this -- at least that was my last experience.

You can still get as many breadsticks as you want, but you have to go to the counter to get them. They don't bring them to the table any more.

I've never tried a McRib (and never will), but I dry-heaved just reading that. Meat should never be grey.
