Just bought a Karaoke "mixer" for a DVD player. It's "The Singing Machine" (SMM-117) DVD accessory pack. I hooked it up correctly (I promise) and was able to play the supplied disc fine, with lyrics and all. We also bought other 3rd party discs (partytyme) and tried those. The audio works fine but we're getting no lyrics. My DVD players (I tried 2 different ones) see the supplied disc as a DVD but the others as CDs. I'm thinking this is the problem but the "salesman" made it sound like the hardware I bought is supposed to decode the CD+G info from the 3rd party discs.

 

Any karoake experts? I am not but my little girl would LOVE this if I can figure it out.
