It's just a two year deal... Affeldt was a Type B free agent and I was hoping we would make a run at him (just like I was hoping we'd make a run at him last season).

Interesting part of the article was the mention of the signing bonus possibly being in place to beat the new tax laws that might come into effect next year.

 

I would imagine it would have gone 3.5, 4.5 or 3.25, 4.75 instead of 1 bonus, 3 and 4.

That's a fantastic signing for the Giants.

 

There has to be something I don't know about Affeldt, I know the Reds were more than willing to deal him this past season, with no takers, and now he signed for two years in an era where relievers routinely get three years, if not four.

 

Knowing Affeldt's price, I'm really disappointed that he's not coming to Milwaukee.

Wow, that's really cheap for a guy who pitched almost 80 IP with a an ERA in the 3's who's still not 30.

Affeldt is a guy that for some reason i just never have liked. It could be because he seems to own our lefties. But yeah that's really cheap for a quality reliever.
