Tigers looking at Lugo (maybe we should offer Hall?)

kramnoj

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/a...otstove2008&fext=.jsp says that the Tigers are looking to acquire Lugo from the Red Sox and want to exchange one of their two bad contracts, Willis or Robertson.

I don't know enough about the Tigers to know their budget, but I thought if the Tigers were willing to take on that much money for a SS that really isn't that good, maybe the Brewers should offer Hall as a SS. I don't see the Brewers taking on a bad contract in exchange (at least Hall has value as the short end of a platoon), but I think it would be worth exploring if the Tigers would have interest in Hall and what the Brewers could get in exchange.

I think a back up infielder for Hall would be a good deal as long as we can get the other team to take on Hall's contract. I really think the best spot for Hall on our team is a super sub, but I don't see Hall being to happy with that role. I think we might be able to get a good player from a team that needs a SS though.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

Hall for Robertson straight up sounds good to me. You are only taking on an additional $200,000 for the 2009 season and $1.6 million for 2010, but you also have a $500,000 buyout for 2011 for Hall that you would be getting rid of as well. I personally think Robertson could be a change of scenery kind of situation.

Hall for Inge?

Not sure I would do this though it wouldn't really fix anything other than helping out financially for the Brewers and the savings is small.

It would be a lateral movement at best though. The Brewers would get salary relief and the Tigers would get an improvement over Inge.

Hall's contract 09 $6.8M 10 $8.4M 11 $9.25M (Club Option) ($0.5M Buyout)

Inge's contract 09 $6.3M 10 $6.6M

Savings of $2.3M for the two years you can't get much on the FA market with $2.3M.

I'll let the stats talk for themselves.
