Yankees trade for Nick Swisher; Wilson Betemit, and P's Jeff Marquez & Jhonny Nunez to CHW

Interesting tidbit from MLBTR on Swisher from Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald citing a source that says "the Yankees acquisition of Swisher could be a prelude to a deal with an NL team". That doesn't necessarily mean Swisher would be involved in said deal, but it offers us Swisher-lovers some hope. I'm not too sure about his defense in CF (in fact I'm pretty skeptical), but I'd sure like to buy low on his bat.

Just thinking out loud, but if the 'Crew did this deal (Swisher for Cam) but the Yankees were willing to take Hall or Soup's contract, would that be more palatable?

I doubt the Yanks would do that now because it would help the Brewers in getting Sabathia.

What are the rules on trading players after they have just been traded? I thought you had to keep a player you traded for at least 6 months before they could be traded again.

Nope, that's signed free agent can't be traded until June 15th or something like that.

You can trade a player at any point in time after acquiring him in a trade. No waiting period of any kind.
