Anybody know why Turner HD channels upscale/resize everything?

I'm assuming you mean convert 4:3 things into stretch-o-vision, because I've noticed that too. It's really annoying, and I have no idea why they do it. I'm guessing it's for the present-day equivalent of people who only bought full-screen movies because they "don't want part of the movie cut off".

Yeah I mean t the 4:3 stuff. And since TW's TNT, TBS are non-digital I can't really tell if they do anything besides stretch it out (TW's nondigital channels are just sucky that any comparison really doesn't work well and DirceTV takes forever to change signals that back and forth comparison's really don't work either). But yeah an early 90s Seinfeld? So not HD.

Seinfeld on TBS-HD is apparently a cropped version of the 35mm master film.

In my opinion, cropping is way better than stretching. I'll have to check this out.

I typically don't watch much cable HD, as I find the TW box's interface to be too clunky and typically prefer to watch the OTA HD over the QAM tuner. That and said box is hooked up to my smaller TV in the basement.

A side note, why does TW advertise themselves as the king of free HD when they charge you for the converter box necessary to view their non OTA HD programming? If it's "free", why do they still encrypt the cable HD channels? Ugh.
