I don't have Insider, but I'm guessing it talks about that New York newspaper report of Fielder being available for a "substantial offer."
I have insider and that's exactly what it's about. It also mentioned that the Yanks wouldn't be interested due to Prince's shortcomings and that they wanted to keep 1st base open for Jeter possibly. Funny, I thought the Yankees were in the AL (DH).

Why in the heck would they want Jeter at 1st? Talk about a below average offensive 1st basemen. I know Jeter is an icon and all but you can't keep him in pinstripes at a prime offensive position simply because he is Derek Jeter. That just sounds stupid to me.

Same reason Jeter is playing SS and ARod, a very good SS back in the day, was moved to 3B.

It also explains how you can spend a kizillion dollars and finish behind Toronto...in 4th place. Those of us who like what BAL is doing, albeit a few years away, can easily imagine the Yankees winning 70 games and finishing last in 2011.

Moving Arod to 3B was the right move for the Yankees. Arod has put on some weight and he has more value for the Yankees at 3B than at SS. Jeter moving to 1B either has to be a joke or someone is smoking something. There is no way the Yankees should even think about moving Jeter to 1B.

Jeter is going to be a problem for the Yankees in the next couple of years as his defense and offensive numbers start to decline. I wouldn't even put Jeter in the OF. The Yankees can't trade or release Jeter there would be riots in New York if that happened.

I don't believe this article is any way serious at all. Even with Prince's bad defense it would still be better than what Jeter would give you at 1B or SS or any other position in the lineup. I wouldn't mind a Hughes/Kennedy, Jackson, and Cabrera/Gardner deal for Prince and a low level prospect.

Ian Kennedy = Dave Bush though. Anyone esle see the similarities between Kennedy and Bush other than myself? I would prefer Hughes over Kennedy even with Hughes recent injury problems.

How was moving a top defensive SS to 3B to keep a terrible defender at SS a good move? Yeah now ARod wouldn't be great, but Jeter still sucks.
Because Jeter would have been worse at 3B than he would of been at SS. Plus his defense wouldn't even justify him playing at 3B along with his offense at the time. At least when the decision was made Jeter was still somewhat good offensively and was passable as a SS with his offense at the time of the decision.

Plus having an angry Jeter at that time wouldn't have been a smart move for the Yankees. Jeter can do no wrong in NY.

Where does that leave Posada then? I believe the justification for his contract extention last year (the length, I mean) was that he would play 1B part-time and catch part-time. Does that mean a Posada/Jeter platoon? If so, how do they expect to contend?
