4/15/06: Brewers (Ohka) vs Mets (Trachsel) 12:10pm CT

Bruce Ciskie
Clark didn't go on his own. Ned called the hit and run for some reason. He's on a mission to turn Hardy into Eckstein. Let him swing the stick - it's the 1st inning. Stop with the "make Hardy into a situational hitter" crap.

Wow, interesting start to the game. Clark with a clean single. The best pitch Hardy saw came on the hit and run, and Mr. Contact swung right through the belt-high 84 mph heater, resulting in Clark being thrown out by about 2 steps. Then Hardy called out on a hanging curve caught above the belt, meaning it likely crossed the plate at the letters. And finally, Jenkins with quite possibly his hardest hit ball of the year, a smash that ate up Delgado, only to have a fine defensive play result in Jenkins being out by 5 steps.

come on guys, that was clearly a hit and run. If JJ even fouls off the 84-mph mid-thigh heater over the heart of the plate, then Brady's still on base. It's unfortunate, but JJ probably swung right through the best pitch any Brewer will see all game long.

wow, didn't know Prince had that strong of an arm. Shoot, he's a better fielder than Lyle (no pun intended), likely a better hitter, and if he has a good arm, then there's really nothing Lyle does better.

Yeah and next time it will be the greatest throw in the world by an armless catcher who tossed the ball to the 2nd baseman with his foot....then it will be because of an eathquake that caused Brady to lose his balance....the fact is we can keep making excuses, but it's pretty much a fact that Brady sucks on the basepaths....bad luck isn't going to change that nor will making excuses for the guy.

How is it making an excuse when a guy gets thrown out on a hit and run? Even great baserunners get thrown out often on hit and run plays. I'm not arguing Brady should be trying to steal bags but that was not his fault.
