So when a player has a hot streak, can I go off about how he's better than Pujols and the Brewers are going to win 110 games because they're so awesome?

Cripes.

That said, since the first 5 games they've been pretty forgettable. Of course, this may very well be the toughest stretch of games the entire season.

Thank you for helping me out there. That's a very good summary as to why this team will take a step back. I will give a few reasons of my own so you all don't think I'm talking out of my butt here.

Reason #1: Youth. Weeks, Fielder, Hardy are all still learning the MLB game. You can't expect them to have ups and downs and still compete throughout the year.

Reason #2: Average pitching. Sheets is a #2 on a playoff team. Davis and Cappy are 4-type pitchers and Ohka isn't even a top 5. That's simply put. Cappy had a career year last year with 18 wins. He'll be lucky to get 12 this year. He's not going to get nearly the run support with the worst offense in baseball behind him.

Reason #3: Yost's managing. He keeps his pitchers in the game way too long when they're getting rocked. Note: Wise in yesterday's game giving up a 5-spot in 1 inning and never even thinking of pulling him. And Doug Davis giving up 9 and Yost finally realizing that maybe it's time to yank him. I'm going to start calling Ned "Dusty" pretty soon.

Reason #4: Total reliability on Carlos Lee. If he struggles, the team struggles. Pardon me, we don't struggle...we LOSE. If we trade him, you can kiss any hopes of a winning season or even a .500 season bye bye.

I could go on, but these 4 reasons are why I feel...excuse me, why I KNOW the Brewers will take a step back and finish below .500.

De la Rosa not looking too bad in that inning.

I just don't think this guy is a reliever. Or maybe he just has control issues that will never be solved no matter how long he pitches.

He certainly looks better the more he pitches.

Wow... I am starting to seriously think this team is completely overrated.

They can't do anything right on this trip, other than the starting pitching which has been solid (until tonight).

It sounds absurd to say a series in April is big, but they seriously need to stop the bleeding against the Redlegs this weekend.

The way they're playing, I don't know why I'm the one who's defending my stance of them being a sub-.500 team and taking a step back. Some of you please explain to me why they are a BETTER team than last year. I can't find even 1 legit reason. Please enlighten me.

I'm not sure anyone knows anything at this point in the season, but thanks for spelling out some of your reasoning.

Have any of you ever walked into a room or building and see something, or someone you didn't want to or expect to see? Then realizing that this isn't a situation you want to be in you walk back out and tried to leave the area as quickly and quietly as possible?

Well, I just turned on the game......

I'll give it a (brief) shot. Basically, I don't see a huge regression coming from the pitching staff, and it's impossible for me to fathom this lineup being worse offensively than last year's.

I don't see a huge regression from the staff either, but early on, it isn't too hard to fathom they'll be worse by what we've seen thus far from this team. Frankly, I think with the youth of this team, we'll end up being worse with RISP than last year.

P.S. This Demaria guy can hop on the first plane to Huntsville. I know he was in AAA, but I don't want him ruining the psyches of the prospects in Nashville with his crappy stuff.

Bucksman, I appreciate you laying out your reasons. I don't agree with most of them, but at least you made real arguments.

Here are some reasons why I think the team WILL be better than last year.

1. A healthy Ben Sheets. The team miraculously reached .500 without Sheets down the stretch. He missed a lot of starts. If he's healthy all season, that will give the team a huge lift.

2. Youth. I noticed you used this as a weakness. I think that they gained valuable experience last season, and it will show this year. Prince has already adjusted well. It's almost the same team as last year, except the younger guys are all one year older. They're bound to improve.

3. Depth. The Brewers' bench in past years has been laughable. With Gross and Hall/Koskie, we have actual major-league caliber players on the bench. We've already seen what a bench can do for a team with Gross' early success.

4. Coaching. You also used this as a weakness. I think Yost has improved on his in-game skills, and he is gaining experience along with the young players. He's always been a great motivator, and the players respect him.
