Brock Montpetit. He committed to UW a couple years ago, supposedly was disappointed that Eaves didn't add him to this season's squad, and was concerned about playing time next year. As a player, he's not a huge loss for UW, but things like this might hurt their reputation in the future.

I think it's a good problem to have when recruits decommit because the current players on the team are too good for them to get ice time. The Badgers have a lot of quality players that are starting to get their act together. Although, you are right that it could be damaging in the future when Wisconsin develops the reputation of recruiting for quantity and not quality.

You know, when I look at this thread title in the off-topic thread list, with the page numbers after it (currently 1,2,3,4,5,6), it makes me think of Hockey Phil:

One, two, three, four, five, six...we want more!

Sorry, carry on with the real hockey talk.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Great couple of games this weekend. I was especially impressed with the way they controlled the puck in both games. I don't know where that has been most of the season but it was great to see them making some great passes and centering the puck. I don't know the actual stats but it honestly felt like they controlled the puck 75% of the game on Friday and over 60% on Saturday. Anyway, if they can keep this play up the rest of the year they will be just fine.

Like we all thought, brutal stretch to start the season. Too bad we couldn't have picked up a win or two in the first 7 games. Still remains to be seen how good we really are.

Yea, we could be in so much better shape if it weren't for all those leads blown in the third period earlier on in the season. Hopefully the team doesn't end up one or two games short of an NCAA bid, they kick themselves for gagging away all those leads.

Had a great time at the game on Saturday, first time I have ever sat that close. 3rd row overall, 2nd row behind student section goal judge. Made for great viewing of the Badgers' goals. And I also got to hear the guy that does the research on the opposing goalie, he had dirt on Michigan's Sauer that went back to before high school. I was dying of laughter and Sauer definately heard him a few times as he turned around and glared at the guy.

Big wins for the team, too bad they went mostly untelevised, as both the other games made the Big Ten Network, but nothing but next day replay for the Badgers on tv.

First place. We are awesome. I doubt it last more than a week though. We have played more games(14) than Minnesota(10), Denver(12) and CC(12). They all could pass us up although CC is playing at Minnesota next weekend. We should start getting a little love in the polls soon. Hopefully we get Geoffrion and Gardiner back shortly after the holidays.

It was nice to see both games on TV this weekend. Now if they could just do that every weekend. That would be great.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

Yeah, we should start climbing, might not make it in this week. We got one vote in the USA Today poll last week. We got 72 votes in the USCHO/CBS poll. 22nd in that poll, St. Cloud State was ahead of us and they swept Minnesota State this weekend and Alaska was ranked 20th and they lost to Nebraska-Omaha in a shootout on Friday and beat them in a shootout Saturday.

Wow, I did not know that. It seems like an awful burden for the Alaskan teams, do they just pay part of it?
This is pretty common in most sports. The Football team pays all non-conference teams to come to camp Randall (Unless there is a contract to go play at their place), B-ball pays for some teams to come to Kohl, etc.

Great stretch for the Badgers. I was at Friday's game and even though they got outshot and didn't play well, they still got the win, and it was encouraging to see that with 2 key players injured we won convincingly on Saturday. Connelly has also been a brick wall in the goal. Very nice work by him, despite our criticism before the season.

Dangit hawing, I'm searching up and down pages 2-10 looking for this thread and you bump it while I'm looking for it.

Brutal series. At least the Admirals won and have the second best record in the AHL.
