Anniversary getaway ideas?

Invader3K
Hey folks...the wife and I have our five year anniversary coming up towards the end of this month (yeah, I know, I need to get more on the ball with this stuff...already have a nice gift for her though!). I would like to take her somewhere for a two night weekend getaway...was thinking of Lake Geneva, since it's relatively close by and seems to have enough stuff to do around the area. Anyone have any suggestions on where to stay? Pretty much just want to take her someplace nice, preferably stay in a nice suite, and somewhere the maybe has an indoor pool, etc. Don't want to spend a fortune, but am flexible on budget. I was looking at the Cove, but read some mixed reviews, so I'm not sure about that one. Open to any ideas, really. Thanks!

My wife and I stayed at The Bailey House in Williams Bay for our first anniversary.

I can't recommend it enough. The home owners were welcoming and very funny. Breakfast was delicious, but the conversation around the breakfast table was even better. We had a beautiful room with a hot tub in it and a fireplace and the price was pretty reasonable.

Personally, I wasn't wild about Lake Geneva. It just wasn't my cup of tea. But I loved the Bailey House.

We went to St. Brendan's Inn in Green Bay for our anniversary last year and I would wholeheartedly suggest it. Obviously you need to pick a week when the Pack is out of town, but we went in September on an off week and had no problems.

It's an Irish Pub and Inn owned by the same people that own County Clare in Milwaukee, if you're familiar.

The room was gorgeous - I'd even say sumptuous. In room whirlpool tub. Separate waterfall shower. Big, comfortable bed. Nice furnishings. Go to the specials page. We got 2 free drinks from the pub downstairs and breakfast in the morning and it was incredibly inexpensive. The food was one of the best meals I've had, period. There were no problems with noise or anything with the pub being downstairs.

It's a nice drive in fall with the leaves changing and lots outdoorsy stuff to do in the area.

Playoffs, school and other things made us push back the anniversary weekend trip this year, so we're heading to the Fringe Inn in Sheboygan Falls in 2 weeks. Can't give you any reviews, but it looks nice and is close to all the amenities of being in and around Kohler. I'm thinking we're heading to Terry Andre State Park nearby as part of our day.

My wife and i spent our five year anniversary this year at romantic miller park. We got on tv and everything. I think you'll be hard pressed to find a game yet this year though. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
