From Philadelphia: Thanks for a great series

Unstable

Hey Brewers fans,

I'm one of those guys who (in the playoffs) likes to read what fans of the other team are saying. It's an opportunity to get a different perspective on the games and learn about a city and team I don't know anything about. For the last week I've been lurking here and reading the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, and I made an account today because I want to say that you guys are absolutely some of the best fans I have ever encountered in any sport.

Although I should point that I *am* from Philadelphia.

Joking aside, it's really been great. In the paper, and here, and looking at the huge crowds at the games on TV, I see fans who are passionate, knowledgeable, and devoting to both their team and the game of baseball. JSOnline has had a lot of stories commenting on the fact that the Brewers are a "small market" team that has been "audacious" this season, but outside of those articles I haven't seen a shred of evidence supporting that idea. I've seen brilliant pitching in games one, two, and three, exciting plays on offense and defense, and huge LOUD crowds at every game.

Whatever it is you're doing, you're doing it right.

I just wanted to let you guys know that you really made an impression on me.

I really hope that you can keep some of the key pieces this offseason and keep building up the payroll. Although I do suggest trying to get Tampa Bay value for your dollars rather than New York value. Good luck!

Thanks, man. Takes a bit of the sting off the loss. Just a little bit. You know, that's why I like when other team's fans come to Miller Park, as long as they're not Cubs' fans, because they offer us a chance to get to know new people and get different perspectives on things. Hope to see you at Miller Park next year, and thanks for taking Jenkins off our hands!

Thanks, and back at ya. I think the crowd's response to every pitch Sabathia sent at Myers has got to be one of the coolest things I've seen a crowd do. I'm not happy the Phillies beat the Brewers, but I certainly won't root against them when playing the Dodgers, or either Sox team--I might root for both if Tampa gets in.

If the Brewers had a healthy Sheets and a somewhat functional offense in Sept/Oct I think this series would have been a lot closer, but the Phillies basically looked like the better team at the moment.

The Phillies are a seasoned, experienced team and you can tell the difference between them and the Brewers. Simply put: the better team won. I'm really sick of Philly beating us in the playoffs in every sport (1980's Bucks, Freddie Mitchell's 4th and 26, 2k1 Eastern Conference Playoffs (The Bucks were better!) and now this). We will get you 1 day!

Thanks for the post.

Of course, we're always going to have our debates about Brewers fans, especially with booing and alcohol and so on, but the underlying theme is that Brewers fans are extremely passionate about their team. The success this year also creates higher standards for the future, so I expect Brewers fans to continue to passionately demand their team to perform on the field. Sometimes it leads to trouble, but usually it is a good thing.

Philadelphia fans supposedly have a bad reputation, but I didn't see or hear about any examples of that during the series.

Best of luck to you guys in the NLCS, hopefully we can do better against you next year. Oh, and keep beating the Mets!
