Congrats, and thanks for the fun

DHonks
I just wanted to start a thread for any Brewers' players, employees, or family members that might read this site....Thank you so very much for this year. It's hard to explain the emotions we've all felt, but I can personally remember going to sleep crying because the legislature had voted against building Miller Park. To go from that night as a teenager to this point as a 27-year old is a total 180. Thanks to all involved in this year's club. And of course, thanks to Brewerfan.net for giving many of us a place to vent frustrations and share exciting moments over the years. There are more good times ahead, and it's great to have so many virtual friends to share them with

It was a hell of a lot of fun. I think even without CC and Ben next year we can compete and do it again. A few moves here and there this winter and we can fix some of the problems and move forward in 2009. I enjoyed every moment of this season no matter how frustrating it was at times. Thank you Brewers, can't wait till pitchers and catchers report.

I agree, it was a special season. It may not have ended the exact way we wanted it to, but we still got to witness some pretty amazing moments. My personal favorites were CC's first start and the playoff victory last night. Both of those nights were absolutely electric. Thanks for the fun crew, look forward to more next year!

Being from Racine and that being the place George Petak is from, I know all too well that swing in the vote. I remember late that night as a teenager staying up listening to 620 about the coverage, thought we'd wake up without a team... and to come to last night (today was great too, but not quite as great obviously) was so tremendous. It was so loud. So much fun. It was great harassing Pedro Feliz most the game and then see him hit into the double play. It was awesome how the place was so electric and so amazingly hanging on every pitch, it was what baseball was supposed to be. Proud to be a Brewer fan, we have won more games in our one postseason appearance this year vs the Cubs last three tries!!! 24 now, and hoping I dont have to wait another lifetime, but merely 12 months until the next one! Go BREWERS!

Yeah, great season and had a lot of fun. Honestly, the goals I set were accomplished. I wanted to make the playoffs and win a game and they did that. I really believe they're going to be very good next year and be competitive. I can't wait to see how this off season unfolds.

I also want to add my thanks to every player, front office staff member, Miller Park worker, media staff member, and Brewer fan for making this an awesome experience. Special thanks to the wonderful people who run Brewerfan.net. You guys do a great job.

2008 has been memorable and everyone deserves credit.

Thank you everyone.

As sports fans we all live for those games and events that make you turn to your buddy, eyebrows raised, and just say "Wow." Last Sunday's clincher and Saturday's playoff win (which I was lucky enough to be in attendance for both) were exactly those kind of games. I will be talking about those games for years and years to come. Despite the inevitable frustrations of a 162-game season and playoffs, this season has been the most memorable of my entire life as a baseball fan, and I am forever grateful to the entire organization for that. Thanks you players, thank you coaches (yes, even you Ned), thank you Mark and Doug, and special thanks to BF.net, you're like a drug that I just can't quit (even if I don't post as much as some of you!). Here's to hoping next year brings more of the same!

Definitely. Just making the playoffs was huge, and it made me think today how many times I got upset at games during the year only to get to the playoffs and realize those games didn't matter once you start playing in the postseason. While I was disappointed the team's season didn't continue, I wasn't angry, and there still was a great sense of accomplishment.

Congrats to everyone involved, including the fans the pushed the attendance over 3 million, and to everyone here that devotes so much of their time to the Milwaukee Brewers. I'm guessing season ticket sales are going to do well this offseason, and given the young talent on the team here's to that success continuing.

It's been a fantastic season. We made the playoffs, and maybe, just maybe, if the chips fall in the right places and Ben Sheets doesn't get hurt, we make a run at the World Series. But, we gave a good team a run for its money in the League Division Series. I can be proud of our accomplishments. I've enjoyed countless memories from this season -- from my first game of the season in Phoenix on Easter Sunday (hey, Rickie Weeks hit a three-run homer!) to this afternoon. By the way, I appreciate the way everybody cheered after the final out this afternoon. I know I was cheering for the Brewers, as well as congratulating the Phillies on their accomplishments.

Let's hope this is just the beginning of quality baseball in Milwaukee. And remember, the fans of the Royals and Pirates are looking at our Brewers thinking, "Hey, if they can do it, we can do it, too." Although I'm sad that the season has ended, I'm looking forward to getting a breather, and coming back in February (hey, only a little over 4 months!) totally refreshed. Thank you, Bud, Mark A, and George Petak. Wisconsin deserves a team like the Brewers.

yeah, this winter will definitely go a bit faster knowing that we are coming off a playoff season, will be making plenty of moves/upgrades to the team, and will likely be a top contender again heading into spring training.

Can't wait for 2009! Thanks to everyone for a great 2008.

After being at both games, here's what I got-

This team is inconsistent, flawed, and infuriated me more than anyone or anything has ever in my life. And I have never had more fun watching baseball. So many memorable moments, and feelings I will never forget. Th opening day win at Wrigley, last week walk-offs, the thrill of finishing the Cubs game and the agony of waiting for the Mets result, and the pure elation that followed.

Since I was a little kid I've dreamed of what it would be like to be our day in the sun. I heard stories about the Braves, and the 82 season, and how baseball brought the city to life. Finally, I've seen it, and it was exactly how I imagined it. I've never seen a ballgame like last night, where 44,000 were hanging on seemingly every pitch. The noise was deafening, the excitement and tension were palpable. I said to a friend "When people tell me baseball is just a game, they've never experienced something like this."

3 million fans, people in Brewer gear everywhere, a level of enthusiasm I never thought possible. Heck, the Brewers even trumped the Packers two Sundays in a row. Milwaukee's love affair with baseball is now rekindled, and this group is to thank.

Every year there is always a twinge of sadness when the season is over for me, but today hit me like a ton of bricks. Unfortunately, we all knew it was pretty much over when they went down 5-0, and I figured that would make the end a little easier to take. But when I walked out of the park, it hit me hard that this season I'd waited so long for was over, and despite it all I didn't want it to end.

This quote from Giamatti pretty much sums up where I'm at right now- "It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops."

The disappointment will go away, but I'll always be grateful for the memories from this season. Thank you Crew, you made my dreams come true this year.

I had a great season, and thanks to this site, I was finally able to scoop my dad on some Brewers news. 187 days till opening day, and I'll see the 2009 team even sooner if I decide to go to spring training again. Part of me is really excited to catch up on life (home improvement, work, non-baseball-fan friends, etc), even though I would have loved to see us make it past the NLDS.

Go Brewers. Here's hoping next year is just as fun.

The first Brewers game I attended was September 25, 1983. From the top row of the upper grandstand we watched Baltimore beat Milwaukee and celebrate their AL East championship. I wondered then what it must have been like to be at a "big game" like those I'd seen on TV at the end of the 1982 season; and I wondered the same thing, at least for a moment, at each game I attended between that day and last Sunday. That is a lot of wondering.

So it took 25 years and a few days, but at long last I've experienced big, meaningful games and big, meaningful wins, for my team. This last week was a beautiful bonus. I didn't feel nervous at all for either of this weekend's home games, and I'm chronically anxious. I was just glad they were taking place. Saturday was more fun than today, of course, but I enjoyed both games. The only thing that disappoints me tonight (OK, besides those four "enemy" home runs) is that we now have to wait months for another game. The end of the season feels to me like December 26 felt when I was a kid.

Thanks to players and staff (yes, even staff who aren't employed there anymore) for a wonderful and happily memorable season. I was at 35 games - the Brewers were 22-11 in the regular season games, 1-1 in the postseason - and despite the sleep deprivation, hours spent in the car, and cost of fuel (thank goodness for the Prius), I had a blast from start to finish.

Finally, being able to share the season with this community made the whole experience even better. That I was able to meet several of you this year was icing on the cake.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

May 18, 2008...We get swept in Boston...thousands of Brewers fans, including wisconsinfan47, witness the trauma live at Fenway...I thought the season was pretty much over...no pitching, decent hitting = 75-80 win season...Then, starting pitching heats up. We get CC frickin' Sabathia, the best pitcher in baseball, and it look slike we've got the WC locked up...we collapse...we somehow make it up. Wow.

Last Sunday was one of the happiest days of my young sports life...right up there with Super Bowl XXXI and Badgers making the Final Four and a triad of Rose Bowls.

Thank you Brewers. Thank you so frickin' much. Here's to another 3 mil and 90 wins next year!

In all pro sports, i think sometimes when a team flames out early in the playoffs, some fans forget to remember the fun of the ride getting to the playoffs. While watching playoff baseball was fun, it's still only four games. Prior to that, we got to watch months of tense and exciting games that all felt important because they really were important.

After years and years of the Brewers being out of the race by July, it was great fun for me to still be tuning into games in August/September and actually caring a lot whether the Brewers won the game or not. Even though the team fell apart in September and many of those losses were incredibly frustrating, for me at least, it still was nice that i had a reason to get angry by those losses instead of like so many seasons in the past where a September slump or loss brought only yawns to me.

Relevant baseball at Miller Park in September and October.

The Packers, who many of us adore, were completely irrelevant for two weeks, and not just because they were stinking up the joint.

3 million-plus fans.

Many days of frustration and angst, many emotions, but a fun ride, and one that many of us (especially those of us who aren't really old enough to remember 1982) won't forget anytime soon.

Thanks.

Wearing my heart on my sleeve since birth. Hopefully, it's my only crime.
